Checked off another one of my 2026 Resolution Bingo items last night, specifically the "Try another new fruit!" square. We stopped by Asian Family Mart and picked up a Koren green melon a little bigger than a softball. Very crisp! Definitely reminds you that melons came from cucumbers. I liked it.
Two quarts in one picking session and not even a tenth of what's on the canes has started to ripen. They're twelve feet tall. I have to get on a stepladder to have any chance of reaching the ones at the top. Send help. Tell them to bring their own buckets.
Did you know that I write horny fantasy romance? Did you know that I have a duology and the sequel out and available for purchase RIGHT NOW? Did you know you can buy all of them directly from me through my website? Now you do! #Romancelandia #FantasyRomance #FemDom scarlettgaleauthor.com/shop
I'm trying to alternate where I work to address my sciatic nerve stuff, and part of that meant walking around my house with a laptop trying to find something that's an ergonomic height to stand and write at. I found one (1) option, so... Behold! My standing desk!
Y'all, as a certified Big Lady Small Man enjoyer, I apparently have been falling down on the job because I only now read The Everlasting by @alixeharrow.bsky.social!!! This book has EVERYTHING: Fucked up time travel! Building myths and fairy tales! Fighting fascism!! YEARNING! FEALTY!! SWORDS!!!
I think I was pretty restrained, actually (my credit card disagrees)
I found the promised land (aka Fiber Fusion Northwest Festival) (I didn't buy THAT much yarn) (I bought a lot of spinning fiber though)
We ripped out some absolute HONKERS yesterday at the forest restoration volunteer session. These invasive blackberries have probably been growing uninterrupted since the Obama administration... BUT NOT ANYMORE!!
Went to the original Bon Marche while we were in Paris (which means "good deal," as in a sale) (the Bon Marche now sells exclusively designer stuff so I think it's a bit less of a bon marche) and they had these two huge chandelier Duchamp bottle drying rack replicas??? Extremely fun!
Kinda feel like we could use some Patriotic Shortening but that's another topic.
Other parts of it are a little less medieval, like the "Women's Courtyard" where female prisoners hung out in during the day. It had the incredible luxury of a fountain, which let them wash their clothes and/or bathe a bit. The Men's Courtyard did NOT have a fountain, so they just got to stink.
They give you a special tablet when you walk in for an "augmented reality" experience, which sounds like it should be cheesy and is actually kinda awesome? You scan these special display pillars and then it shows really well-done historical re-creations of that area as it was in the past!
We went to the Conciergerie while we were in Paris, which was a medieval palace that then got turned into a court and prison during the French Revolution and is now a museum, and I know I'm being very American but THIS IS THE DAMN LOBBY YOU WALK IN AND BUY YOUR TICKETS IN THIS HALL HOLY SHIT.
Got the loom warped up yesterday and started a scarf using a diamond-shaped twill pattern I designed myself! I have to beat the weft so so so gently if I want any kind of balanced weave so that's tricky, but I'm really liking it so far. Knitpicks Stroll for the warp, Malabrigo Arroyo for the weft.
I also took one (1) photo that wasn't of fat rolls. It was instead of fabric folds, something that enrages me with envy/jealousy/appreciation every time I see them well-rendered in fucking MARBLE, how dare you.
And finally we have Lady Doing Fiber Arts Topless. Whomst among us knitters can say we haven't done something similar, etc.
Here we have a lady taking a nap in the shelter of a big eagle, and she both has accurate belly creases and her boobs are disappearing into her armpits like what happens when I lie down. 10/10
This is a statue of Eve suddenly consumed with regret after eating the apple, and damn, look at the abs on this gal. (Yes I did look like I was taking close-up pictures of every statue's bazongas and I made that sacrifice to bring these photos to you.)
Love the draped fabric on this nude just to flex by carving all those fabric folds, and then some very accurate ribcage creases.
We went to the Musee d'Orsey and I, a pervert with very specific tastes, immediately documented every good fat roll on the marble statues of women. This lady's one of the first ones you see when you come it: "Woman Bitten by a Snake." (This is definitely what I look like when a snake bites me.)
Brought home a very reasonable 2.5 pounds of shrinkwrapped French butter in my suitcase, as you do
This was one of many incredible tiny thrift shops in Paris we visited today that are set up in old-ass buildings with dungeon basements), or as I like to call them, THRIFT CRYPTS
Listen, it's 100% wool, fully lined with a slippery fabric that means I can wear it over a sweater without having to struggle to get the sleeves on, and I got to buy it directly from the designer who is clearly my sister in another life. I couldn't not buy it!
Me in Muji: Okay there are a lot of 100% wool sweaters on sale, but I don't need to buy something that isn't right just because it mostly fills a hole in my wardrobe. Me in a Parisian designer pop-up for less than a minute: IF I DON'T SPEND 500 EUROS ON THIS INCREDIBLE COAT RIGHT NOW I WILL PERISH
Some meals from Paris! Hotel breakfast yesterday, lunch tartes and salads from yesterday, and Cambodian bowls for yesterday's dinner. Today was a lot of the same (we had leftovers of the tartes) + I finally got to a good market so we had a spectacular hotel room picnic dinner. #ParisByStorm
Went back to Cafe Miaou for an hour with my laptop and wrote over 800 words in the company of these lovely creatures. A+ choice, would write in a cat cafe again and god willing I will. #ParisByStorm
