Frankly absurd. Writer of all sorts of nonsense. Nothing here reflects views of employers, publishers or my terribly embarrassed kids. He/him. #ActuallyAutistic Website:
This is the first time since 1963 that both Doctor Who AND Star Trek have had no new episodes in production.
Shifty’s Boys by Chris Offutt. Even better than the 1st, this 2nd Mick Hardin thriller takes everything I loved about the first & does more of it. Quietly progressive Kentucky noir, great characters, wittily observed, excellent sense of place, community & the ruthless moral code of the mountains.
The Killing Hills by Chris Offut. Lean, pacy, witty Kentucky Noir with lovely observation of a community the author knows inside out, its rules, speech patterns & social conventions. Terrific nature writing in here, too. Tore through it in a day. Loved it. If you miss Justified, this is for you.
I covet my original copy of the first book. Green Spock! Who comes from Vulcanis! Rocket-powered Enterprise! Kirk works for Space Service - Starship Command! 'Circling the solar Sphere!' Yeoman Rand more important than Bones! It's hilariously bonkers.
Democracy Volunteers' website's About us page leads with this image. Lets look at the Our Team page. Hmm. All white. OK, how about their Advisory Council page. Golly, all white. I dunno guys, maybe some actual journalists could get back to us on them before uncritically parrotting their soundbites.
Have BSKy disabled muting of words for UK users who don't verify their age? Coz it says my 'declared age' is <18, but my birthday's entered correctly. It is declared. Why would word muting require age verification? That's nuts. Surely I'm making a stupid mistake somewhere coz this isn't rational!?
Not often I do an actual audible gasp of amazement, but I saw this in an antique shop in Lewes just now. Sadly (for me) the owner knew it was an original, & how much it was worth. If I hadn't literally just dropped a small fortune on my wedding suit... Anyway, if you've £400 going spare...
Janeane Garafalo in The Truth About Cats and Dogs. I mean, good grief, she's stunning.
Proposed new definition of GenX - boomers are such a specific collection of historically-informed weirdnesses that 'the generation unfortunate enough to be raised by those weird fucking boomer kids' feels valid.
Loved @mattjwesolowski.bsky.social unsettling train ride into darkness, @jodierobins.bsky.social creepy charabanc clowns, & @stejhoward.bsky.social entirely unexpected haunted house. Really looking forward to the next 3 & hoping this becomes an ongoing endeavour.
Free to a good home, will post free in UK - discs are US region one. Reply coz no DMs anymore.
13 thoughts about Superman. 1) The movie is super cheesy/corny, but if your Superman isn’t cheesy/corny then I just don’t think you’re doing Superman properly. The cheese is a *feature*, not a bug.
The 3 books currently on my bedside table. It's currently bit of a golden age for TV history nerds like me. Special interest, you say? Moi? #soautistic #suchgreatbooks @tobyhadoke.bsky.social @0tralala.bsky.social @davidbrunt.bsky.social
Nala wants you to know that she is very disappointed you are not rubbing her tummy.
There are many inexplicable decision in the history of #doctorwho, but of all of them, this may be the most baffling...
Ripping my DVDs of When The Boat Comes In to my Plex server. It auto generates thumbnails for the episodes. Can anyone explain why the thumbnail for S2 E1 is Tracey Emin's Bed!?!?
The last time I will ever crack open a new book by Christopher Fowler😔
The face of a dog who has the *unmitigated gall* to beg for my fries mere minutes after devouring my earplugs off the bedside table.
Started Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin yesterday and I’m already halfway through. It is thoroughly immersive and wise and funny and sad and delightful and I *adore* it.
Raised a glass in memory of Paul Spragg at last night’s Wonder Stuff gig at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire - they were *amazing*, and he’d have loved it.
