I’m Scott: recovering journalist and aspiring late-in-life novelist currently managing a warehouse. Single dad. I contain multitudes. Passionate about dinosaurs. I try to make art sometimes. An absolute delight. He/Him/Y’all
Thanks for this beautiful message. I’m an older artist self-teaching and enjoying the act of creating Dino art. It helps us older guys and gals to create these new neural paths and keep our minds sharp and feeling young as we age. AI can’t help with that, either!
Absolutely! Keep it up. And here’s a little gem from the past!
One year ago, we adopted Eclipse. She was just eight weeks old. Turns out, she is just about a perfect dog. Easy going and eager to please and affectionate but also the smartest dog I’ve ever had. If she had thumbs, she’d drive herself to the dog park. 15/10 doggo.
A nearly perfect, nearly full moon casting its light over the waters of the Atlantic in New Smyrna, Florida. The world is wild and often unfriendly. Take your joys where you can. Every time.
During the pandemic, I streamed the Bob Ross channel almost constantly. By 2022, I had begun painting with acrylics and wanted to try the actual Ross technique. The results weren’t gawdawful. 1/4
How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight was regular night-night reading for my son. That turned out all right. Rest well, Jane.
I have an idiot who could be your idiot’s identical twin.
Zallinger’s Age of Reptiles mural, Knight x2 (Triceratops vs TRex and Allosaurus feeding), Deinonychus in 1978 National Geographic, and the entire production design of the original Walking With Dinosaurs (which is cheating, but the impact was undeniable).
Today is apparently National Puppy Day. My girl Eclipse is almost a year old, so she’s still a puppy, but here is Baby ‘Clipse chilling under a rainbow. We adopted her in July and she’s the smartest, bestest dog I’ve ever had.
This qualifies as one of the worst takes, and the people who write things like this are bad at their jobs.
My #TopShelfFriday is a copy of Uncanny X-Men #150 my parents gave me for Easter in 1987. Great double-sized issue and a fantastic Empire Strikes Back gag featuring Kitty and Colossus. (They also gave me X-Men annual #7 with the Impossible Man and it was a delight, too. It has since disappeared.)
I almost wandered away from dinosaurs like a lot of kids did, but I read “The Dinosaur Heresies” in the seventh grade and BAM!! I was back in, baby!!! My first tattoo was a dinosaur (at 30) and now in my 50s I’m enjoying paleoart and drawing dinosaurs of my own (I’ve sold a few!).
Hang in there. Some of your not-technically-friends-but-online-well-wishers are rooting for you! Here’s a picture of Eclipse to prove it. (I’m in it, too, so by comparison she’s even cuter.)
