Yeah, I don't mean Elon specifically, but maybe now we're all doing a victory lap around the Greek-statue-avatar crowd, so Nolan's seen as our team's hero now? Like, Oates' attempt to dunk on Wilson makes no sense in the context of the review, only in the context of the "identitarian" backlash.

Post a perfect album from the 90s

The cover art to "Malachai (Shadow Weaver Part 2)" by the Legendary Pink Dots. It's hard to explain the visuals. There are some skeletons at the bottom, and towering over them is what I can best explain as a sort of sunsetting landscape in muted colors, consisting of celestial bodies, clockwork gears, cellulite geographies, insects, and twisted babies. Put on the album and the first track, "Joey the Canary," will make perfect sense of this visual overload. It's '90s-era Dots, that brief moment when the core band was joined by Patrick Q-Wright, Ryan Moore, AND Niels van Hoornblower (three instrumentalists each stunning in their own idiom) but with Steven Stapleton of Nurse With Wound twiddling knobs over all the band's usual melodic textures.

The Hill's sole source is a CNN article, the point of which is to aggregate everything bad any elected Dem has said about Mamdani, and which omits a crucial part of her criticism, leaving in its place a crude editorial paraphrase. The full context would definitely be helpful.

Sometimes when you find yourself facing the cruel jeers of a hostile and unaccommodating crowd it's because you've bravely taken a stance that your audience is too unenlightened to accept. But there are other reasons.

It looks like they both have incredibly heavy hands and Trump has to his credit fucking pushed through it, felt the burn but ultimately got one limply-fisted hand above his shoulder level, while Vance, a cave troll, just said "fuck it"

Trump and Vance, smirking in front of too many American flags. Vance's hands seem abnormally large, and he is letting gravity dictate where they go. Trump, with his tiny hands, is holding one up in what cannot honestly be called a fist: a fist requires that some muscle action is holding the whole thing together. Trump has folded his fingers inward and is capping the embarrassing mess with a thumb, but it's clear the whole hand is limp.

Betteridge's law of headlines is an adage that states: "Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no." It is based on the assumption that if the publishers were confident that the answer was yes, they would have presented it as an assertion; by presenting it as a question, they are not accountable for whether it is correct or not.

The law is named after Ian Betteridge, a British technology journalist who wrote about it in 2009. The maxim has been cited by other names since 1991, when a published compilation of Murphy's law variants called it "Davis's law", a name that also appears online without any explanation of who Davis was. It has also been referred to as the "journalistic principle" and in 2007 was referred to in commentary as "an old truism among journalists".

One thing that distinguishes your broadsheet from "journalism" is that journalists would not have afforded this corrupt government employee (the "higher-up official," we don't know enough about the contracting specialist) anonymity.

A higher-up official in the Park Service’s contracting office approved the full $13.1 million bid, including the 20 percent margins for overhead and profit, the documents show. The official, who is a civil servant and not a political appointee, reasoned that the contractor should be rewarded for taking on a difficult project that might cost more than expected, according to the documents.

“The contracting officer determined that due to the risk of the project, the inflated overhead and profit percentages of 20 percent were reasonable,” the analysis said.

The contracting specialist and the higher-up official who approved the bid did not respond to questions from The Times.

"Sincere about his views" is a fundamentally misleading way to look at this, because it cedes the absurd idea that one can be "sincere" in a "view" about a topic they know nothing about and haven't bothered to learn. "Sincere in his ignorant reckoning" would be more applicable.
