Orbital, by Samantha Harvey, is contemplative and lovely. 16 orbits around the earth; the thoughts of the astronauts on the ISS. It won the Booker prize. It’s a nice break from planet earth right now. If you like, it has a great audiobook narrator as well. Also, it’s 137 pages.
My Apple phone “processed” yesterday’s clearly yellow Boston sky to bluish-gray. Any idea how to turn that processing off so the picture shows what the eyes see? Shooting in RAW didn’t work, neither did the various filters—they affect the whole photo. And yes, putting out the fires would work best

The last 24h in order: Snow, rain, freeze, melt. Astonishingly beautiful. Zoom in to see the sparkling melt drops; volume up to hear the chorus of birds.

This living room. Big windows (doors) facing east, sunlight from 8-4, loads of plants, big comfy chairs, a central location in the house so it feels connected to everything, art on the walls, and labs who know exactly where the warm spots on the floor lie.
My new obsession. Cookie Monster would like these. Spicy and crunchy and yummy and nomnomnomnomnommomnomnom GOOOOD!
I’m still learning—and as my children will tell you, I’m unspeakably old. Scrambled with a dollop of almond milk is very tasty, for instance, and if you are under the shadow of Mont Ste Michel then scrambled in a large copper pot for a long time by hand at impossibly high speed is Eldritch magic.
