“there’s nothing new under the sun but there are new suns” Octavia Butler # 1 St. John’s bridge fan acct Alaska->PDX let’s plant trees in the street
There are like 300,000 acres of wildfire happening in NE Oregon, with major PNW cities so far lucky to be dodging the smoke
Harper from @strongtownspdx.bsky.social pitching a community transformation of that weird triangle of dead ground in front of Worker’s Tap along Sandy, one of many such community-driven visions featured on the Plazas & Places Bikeride!
this place is the opposite of AI. regular guys are in there with dusty stacks of poetry and philosophy and there’s a handwritten sign taped to a shelf in the back reading “the best time to plant a tree (read a classic book) was 10 years ago but the next best time is now”
Portland Bike Summer continues… www.shift2bikes.org
riding home from my PNW Climate Week event and got caught up in this LLoyd Live event on the esplanade with bike DJ, live music, and a **synchronized swimming performance** PDX is the best, 10/10, many notes actually www.ecolloyd.org/events/lloyd...
I’d love an urban arrow but in the meantime my $50 Craigslist bike trailer hauls 5 bags of planting soil no prob
The NE Klickitat design applied to N Charleston between existing crosswalks, St Johns Public Library, and James John Elementary
Feast your eyes on this street design created by PBOT in 2011 and imagine a city connected by safe, protected, climate neutral resilience greenways
i was able to use our greenway network for this whole 26+ mile ride except for when I drifted off and had to find it again. my fave part was riding down Klickitat which I hadn’t done before, the storm water planter school street block is what we want at James John elementary on Charleston!
e-biked for meetings today from st johns to montavilla/80th to taborspace to mississippi and back to st johns and it was so beautiful, Portland is so GORGEOUS today
there are like 6 people in all of forest park today and they are all vibin on gentle breezes and bird calls with the place to themselves. the vine maple leaf scene is popping, 10/10 no notes
i think portland should be able to influence and advocate for good outcomes here, and I’m honestly surprised we haven’t done so already! St johns bridge is an iconic symbol of Portland and as such it should have safe and protected bike and ped passage so all people can use and enjoy it!
Alireza Beiranvand also a contender! but Rodriguez wow
some weird little guys in the new kids room that I hope make it into the dreams of area children
just went to the park and laid right on the ground and stared at the trees for 15 min
good write up featuring @ripcitynotripoff.bsky.social’s organizing to get Portland a fair deal amid this stadium fracas
natalie lafourcade at the Arlene Schnitzer concert hall last night was incredible, at one point a Mexican flag made its way onto the stage and brought the house down. have never been in the schnitzer when the whole place is singing, let alone in Spanish 🇲🇽
pov you are at the schnitz after a few margaritas awaiting the incomparable natalie lafourcade
yolkan farm from Hillsboro showing out those berries & cherries!
Art Heaux has run events and used the activated plaza at SE 7th and Sandy as an artist gallery and studio space over the years. This is the first year we’ve had a little funding for activation coordination and we are happy to give Art Heaux the money and the keys to all the 2026 plaza events!
