Hand printing labels for my next resin kit using an old Riso Gocco hand printer. Riso made these for the Japanese market for household projects like making custom news years cards and I’ve read that at one point like 1/4 of all Japanese households had one. Messy and imprecise, they’re neat.
Tamago Gundan kits are in production and orders are shipping out. Crack open some models, customize the hell out of them, enjoy the eggs. Grab yours on garagekit.club.
One thing that doesn't get talked about much with Trump's tariffs and the removal of the de minimis exemption is that shipping companies (in this case UPS) are literally making more off fees than the US is getting in actual tariff revenue.
Kow Yokoyama cover for PC Engine insert that appeared in Famicom magazine (date unknown, grabbed from a Mercari listing)
It even has that black stripe around the cockpit… Anyways, this is sort of relevant because in one or two interviews Kazutaka Miyatake of Studio Nue has mentioned Yokoyama was involved in the early design process for the TV series.
Our last kit to show off before Wonder Festival US later this week at Momocon, the Nirasai. Available in very limited quantities at the show, more later on garagekit.club. Come see us at booth WON-0711!
Launching this weekend at Wonder Festival US, we'll have have these Tamago Gundan 2-packs featuring keshi-sized figures (around 1" tall) in a double egg carton. Single piece resin figures, no construction required. Later they'll be on www.garagekit.club.
Packaging previews of the first two Tamago Gundan kits we’ll be launching next week at Wonder Festival US. These are designed for more experience modelers or those looking to get into resin kits, not hard to build but not snap fit.
Here's the second design that's part of our upcoming Tamago Gundan model kit series, debuting next week at Wonder Festival US.
We've been talking about garage kits long enough, so it was probably time to make our own? Featuring designs and artwork by superdeformer, we'll have a couple different versions available next week at Wonder Festival US in Atlanta, GA.
Zimmerit is heading to the very first Wonder Festival US with kits and zines. Stay tuned for more details soon. If you’re heading to Momocon we’ll be in the Wonder Festival section, booth WON-711.
RESIN PUNKS, the latest Zimmerit 'zine, is out and available now from garagekit.club and select brick and mortar shops. 40 pages of '80s garage kit culture including profiles, translated period material, and photos. Grab it here: garagekit.club/products/res...
If you’re in neither of those places, well, at least you’ll be able to grab RESIN PUNKS, the newest Zimmmerit ‘zine, from garagekit.club this Thursday.
If you’re in Los Angeles this weekend, I won’t be tabling at Brain Dead’s Fantasy Fest (can’t be two places at once) but they have a big stack of my books that’ll be on sale. Plus a lot of other cool vendors and events.
If you’re in central Texas this weekend, I’ll be tabling at Staple! with some books and other things.
If you’re in Los Angeles our latest zine RESIN PUNKS is available now at LA Wargames in Little Tokyo. For everyone else… it’ll be available on garagekit.club in a few days.
Our buddy @spaceleech.bsky.social cut a new trailer for Gainazine. Now that the Gainax story is truly over, couldn't hurt to go back to the beginning, eh?
The next Zimmerit 'zine is juuuuuust about ready to be sent off to the printer. Should be out next week. ~40 pages in b&w and color about '80s garage kit culture.
NEW BOOK: I’m excited to announce that Zimmerit will be publishing a full-color zine featuring the model work of long-time contributor kvltworx. Details and release date TBD.
TIL Running Man was called "Battle Runner" in Japanese and one of the Japanese editions of the book had this cool photo (illustration?) of Arnold on the cover. Between the name and the flared collar in the photo, you could *almost* think they were trying to go for a Blade Runner look.
Thought I was going crazy when I just now saw a photo of the Betty from Alien Resurrection and was like "are those...?" but apparently the ship was first designed as a model kitbash so those are very clearly VF-1 Valkyrie forearms hanging off the side there.
The Art of Angel’s Egg reprint (released this month to coincide with the 4k restoration) is a great way to revisit a long out of print book. For fans of Mamoru Oshii and Yoshitaka Amano it’s worth picking up though like the name suggests it’s really just artwork, very little text.
The 1/1 scale SAFS statue that appeared in Model Graphix in the late '90s and in various Maschinen Krieger events in the early 2000s is up for auction. You can see for yourself here: auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d...
I haven't seen it mentioned yet (and is isn't even mentioned on Dark Horse's page for it), but the upcoming Gunsmith Cats Omnibus Book Three reportedly includes the original Riding Bean manga by Sonoda that ran in the short-lived Comic Noizy magazine.
In the realm of largely forgotten '80s cartoons with dubious legal situations, where does Mighty Orbots sit? Looks like someone has a bunch of official Mighty Orbots social media accounts and a page teasing a new Kickstarter campaign for a toy but there's like, zero copyright info anywhere.
