FBPE. Generally genial. Still learning as I go. Check out my web site - seanconnorswrites.com Best review from Jaden `This book is brilliant! Just as good as Harry Potter - but without the magicʼ. 🤣
Many in the UK - including politicians - don't understand FoM. What Blair allowed was immediate, full access to residency, NHS etc with no restrictions. EU FoM requires people to have their own means of support, med insurance and a return to their own state if not employed in 3 months. V different!
There's an international money network reaching the 4 corners of the world, stretching back hundreds of years that controls much of the UK. A dusty, old, untouchable world within a world. Cocooned by its own police force and fuelled by the pound sterling. On the day they adopt the Euro pigs will fly
CTA is the only agreement that allows us to live freely in each other's countries. It hasn't ever been written independently. Rather, it has been agreed on a handshake during other negotiations. I'd far rather leaving well enough alone untill UK actually rejoins EU.
I'm sitting quietly, absorbing your excellent content, Niall, but I'm constantly flummoxed by - what seems to me - a constant refusal by everyone to see the UK as it is. A full member of CPTPP. Talks are ongoing between EU and CPTPP which would surely affect the UK's position. Am I wrong here?
Amazing how little the average brit understands about the EU - even now, after 10 years of poverty inducing brexit. FoM is still thought of as the unrestricted FoM of pre brexit membership. When the actual rules of FoM are explained, most are quite happy with it all.
@mrjamesob.bsky.social Just listening to how developed AI has become. I urge people not to trust it too much. Here are 3 questions I asked Google.
Three simple questions I asked Google today. Doesn't bode well...
I stick with my initial assessment. Starmer is going to stick to Labour's manifesto as much as possible (and as long as PLP allows. The moment he even hints at rejoining the EU, the UK press will go on a feeding frenzy and no more work gets done. Rejoining will be on next election if this parl works
9 year old comments? Irrelevant now. Here's why the UK can't have any EU oversight of fiscal matters. (apart from hubris). It is also, IMO, the real reason why Starmer will concentrate on trade deals rather than EU membership. 14 yrs of tory mismanagement has sunk HMS UK. Labour can only bail it out
There was NEVER a famine in Ireland! One crop failed. Withholding food from the population, was a deliberate tactic by the ruling British and ascendency Irish classes, to remove troublesome peasants from the land. Call it what it was. It was genocide!
For anyone who doesn't believe... There was never a famine in Ireland! One crop failed...
Guess who never got a penny in structural or development funds for his constituency in over 20 years?
Wonder if the RF voted for brexit, considering how much they pocketed from the EU?
The ruling showed the confusing nature of brexit vote as well as, perhaps, the nature of legal interpretation without a written constitution. Interesting that the only actual rights British people enjoyed were guaranteed by the ECHR. British human rights are subject to a single majority vote anytime
I live here. UK voters had more than one bite of the cherry. They chose brexit and gave clear support to Theresa May in 2017. That's democracy. You may feel let down by it - which I understand - but the EU have accepted it and now move on. I hope this is as bad as it gets and things improve from now
We could learn a lot from Rep of Ireland. They passed a law specifically to ban lobbiests from buying influence. Begs the question, Who runs the UK and how much to buy it?
Well, at least the brilliant author, Jeremy Warner, tells us that everything has panned out almost exactly as he predicted back at the referendum. 🙄😂
All uncovered and made public by the excellent @carolecadwalla.bsky.social ages ago.
Quite the irony! In Wales, Farage will be surrounded by projects aided by EU development funds, while the Kent MEP never got a penny for his own constituency. 20+ years to sit on his arse and cause mischief. Takes some brass neck to look farmers in the eye...
Keeping the monarchy is one thing but tolerating millions of acres being held in perpetuity by aristocratic hangers on? Not a hope. As the wise say... 'We'll see'.
Goodwin a bit shell shocked by the end of QT. Tried to blame everything that's wrong in Britain - including the NHS - on asylum seekers. Constantly refers to them as "Fit males of fighting age." They're hardly bleeding the NHS. Kept calling them illegal. It's a hate campaign. Don't fall for it.
