It’s one of my favorite events of year again: McKeesport International Village. I had a great time last night checking out the food vendors, watching the dancing, and listening music - all provided by local groups and organizations.

Glad to join my fellow federal, state, and local elected officials to honor the Sri Venkateswara Temple’s 50th anniversary yesterday. An important site for faith and pilgrimage whose influence stretches far beyond our region, I congratulate them on 50 years of service and community.

This week my office is saying goodbye to our summer interns, Lilly and Santino. I am grateful for all their hard work this summer!

Next Monday, August 17th, my office is partnering with the City of McKeesport to host Village for Kids. The event kicks off the week of McKeesport International Village and is an incredible opportunity to connect kids and families with the resources they need—and it’s just a fun time to be a kid!

Yesterday evening, I joined Rep. Salisbury at Braddock's Battlefield History Center for a celebration of the Whiskey Rebellion! I was proud to present them with $25,000 in state funding to support their mission to preserve our region's history and educate the public.

Last week, I joined PA DCED Sec. Rick Siger to tour the Nexteel facility in Munhall where local workers manufacture stainless steel pipes. Despite doing business all over the world, Nexteel chose to invest in the Mon Valley, bringing back highly-skilled workers and creating good-paying jobs.

My team had a great weekend at Whitehall Community Day and Blaine Hill VFC Community Day! Summer is a busy season, and we're always excited for the opportunity to meet our neighbors and share information about the services my office can provide.

We need to do more to ensure that more students leave school ready to join the workforce, so I was proud to support a budget that provides $154 million for career and technical education, an increase of $10 million.

Tonight is National Night Out, an annual event promoting partnerships between our communities and law enforcement. We can all take part in these efforts to make our neighborhoods better, safer places to live.

I hear every day about how rising grocery prices are stretching budgets across our region. On Friday, I joined my colleagues for a hearing on lowering those runaway prices and improving affordability for Pennsylvanians.

It was a busy weekend in the 45th! On Friday, my team joined Lincoln Borough for their National Night Out event. On Saturday, it was time for Duquesne Community Day, White Oak Community Day, McKeesport's Riverfront Festival, and Homestead Community Day.

My Student Government Seminar is one of my favorite events of the year. Bringing together over 120 high school students and diverse panels of government experts, we delve into the legislative process and students gain hands-on experience through a mock Senate session. Check out the highlights!

My team had a great time at Elizabeth Firemen’s Riverfest and Port Vue Fun to Be a Kid Day this weekend! My office attends community events throughout the year to bring resources and information right to you.

Every summer my family visits Schwirian Farm Sunflower Festival in Forward Township to check out their huge sunflower fields! The festival runs through next Tuesday, 7/28, so drop by to see the flowers in full bloom before they are gone for the year.

Rape crisis centers across Pennsylvania, like PAAR, provide vital support to people at their hardest moments. This year's budget doubled state funding with a long-needed $12 million increase to rape crisis centers to support their mission and long-term stability.

Nico and I had a great time last week joining Plum Borough Community Library for story time and a pizza party! Our public libraries do an amazing job promoting community and childhood literacy and I'm always excited to support them.

Good news from Harrisburg! Do you hate when a telemarketing call interrupts your evening or uses a “spoofed” phone number to make it look like a call is coming from a neighbor or local business, when it’s actually coming from across the state or even country?

The new state budget includes $15 million in new funding the school districts in the 45th District. I was proud to vote for this increase to strengthen our schools and secure our children's futures, while helping districts plan for the future.

We need more quality, well-trained teachers in Pennsylvania. I was proud to vote for $40 million for the PA Student Teacher Support program in this year's budget, a $10 million increase. These stipends go directly to pay student teachers, who otherwise go unpaid during the mandatory work experience.

I was proud to support $53 million for new road and bridge projects in Allegheny County in this year's state budget. Our region deserves infrastructure that is safe and we can rely on as we travel to work and school every day.

Investments like these mean our students have the tools they need to succeed, not just in school, but throughout their lives.

I am proud to support a state budget that invests in our community which was signed into law by Governor Shapiro just a few minutes ago. While no budget is perfect, this year’s budget was a compromise that passed with large bipartisan majorities in the state Senate and House.

I'm in Harrisburg today for a rare Sunday session day to pass the state budget for this fiscal year. The budget invests in our community, including key funding for our schools, roads and bridges, senior and family services, and so much more. Keep an eye out here and on my website for more details.
