Hedgewitch. Intellectual nomad. Techno-heretic. Hands in the soil, head in the clouds, heart bridging the two. Wendell Berry is my dream job.
Even this is not enough for them. "Me, I want what's coming to me... The world, Chico, and everything in it" We are being ruled by the hungry ghosts and the jealous gods.
I feel like everybody should probably read this book at this point. brianchristian.org/the-most-hum...
My paintings may be mediocre, but I'm learning to make art out of flour.
I propose getting off social media and doing something in the real world for a bit. You don't have to be good at it. I will keep offering my terrible art as an example to follow. Write a poem. Practice an instrument. Go for a walk with no headphones. Shake it off. We're in an ultramarathon.
Here is my absurdly amateur first watercolour pencil piece as a timeline cleanse. It is titled "Apparently I don't know how shadows work." I am also a bit dodgy on what trees look like. What are you doing to keep yourself sane in the midst of all this... *waves hands*?
How do the rest of you handle the onslaught of email? Hundreds a day!!! I'm drowning to the extent that I have just given up and told people that if they really need me, they have to... something. I stopped answering my phone because of spam calls, though. I left FB and IG. Do I just drop out?
I know this is a very old technology, but I was trying to explain to my partner how the fineness of thread means that the labour involved in textiles is comparable to that of building, and that they are dramatically undervalued when we think of them on a weight basis.
Took a picture of this painting at the museum this afternoon because it looked (to my untrained eye) surprisingly modern for the 1650s. Notes on the painting: phoebusfoundation.org/en/agenda/pa...
I took a month off and went solo traveling, and for some reason wound up with this caldera trail in the Azores entirely to myself one fine afternoon.
Original alt text (joke) says, "How could you choose avoiding a little pain over understanding a magic lightning machine?" I, too, have licked a rock as an adult. In my defense, I thought it was a hailstone. It was rocksalt. :( xkcd.com/242
WTH, Tylenol?!? Relieving a sick person's symptoms so that they can go out and spread the love (*cough* virus *cough*) is... Well, it's a business model I guess. Don't. Go. Out. Sick. Stay in and get better.
Yes! It's so beautiful. 😍 Here is one of mine. (When I search for flowers in my photos, I get a long scrollable wall of pictures.)
I grew a quite ugly potato in a pot in my front yard from one that sprouted in the winter and it made me dance
Everything is rotten and terrible, but I found a volunteer peach tree in the front yard of the house that we have been rewilding for last 20 years. We started planting out-of-zone fruits in anticipation of climate shift...
Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. (”Hard mode” no Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, or Marvel)
Gotta eat dinner even while Rome(esque) is burning. It's like fiddling, except that I'm definitely not in charge.
Then I had hot oil, so I had to keep frying things. It got a bit out of control.
There were no arancini at the Italian street fair, so I had to make some.
Every week I let them send me vegetables, and then I have to figure out what to cook with them. Iron cheffin' my meal planning. Even when the shenanigans down south are *off the frigging charts*!!! Meal 1: mushroom stroganoff with mashed potatoes and wilted dandelion greens
In which our author inserts herself into the narrative to assure us that, "She doesn't get eaten by the eels at this time."
I had black beans left from the burgers, so I turned them into cupcakes. I will not be winning any awards for my baking presentation or my food photography, but they are quite delicious and frugal. www.ninalanewellness.com/2021/10/27/b...
If you see this, post the most recent photo of yourself from your camera roll. No cheating!
