My S'Mores pup, 4yrs ago today. Over 18yrs old. She was on way to leaving. She passed a couple months later. She was my first pup as an adult. She grabbed my heart from day one, and took it with her when she left. I'm grateful for her successors that were able to find my heart again.
My heart strings are stretched to max. She looks entirely too much like my Rue girl 🤎
Yards are better charging stations than stairs. It's like a portable battery pack. They can recharge while in use.
Amongst other things, making my own food of Chicken, sweet potato and carrots. I made it from scratch, and froze daily servings. When she passed I left the labels I made on the containers to remember her. The labels are now faded, but my heart still aches. 2/2
This faded label once had a cartoon of a chicken on a dachshund's back with a "Chixie" over it. I rescued a hospice doxie named Trixie. I nursed her back from the brink & for 15 months I cared for & loved her. 1/2
Leia was neutral about waters for a couple years. All she wanted was to hunt bugs and tree rats (squirrels), then she realized that, just under the surface, there were WATER RATS. Now she's fixated.
I have two doxies on my mantel altar. Huge hugs! And I have two on my lap right now, they keep me sane.

The advantage of being 11-16lbs is that instead of a sleepy waddle to bed, dad gently lifts them up and gently kisses them as he carries them to bed. Spoiled little girls! And deserve every bit of it.
It took years to get our Border mix rescue to trust again. He would cower when we reached down slowly to just pet him. A local cop was his previous abuser. The asshat's inability to control people at levels he dreamed was obviously taken out on the poor pup. Now he can't get enough scritches!

Hatch? That's Virgina style too. At least this virginia house. I currently have 6 cans of Hatch enchilada sauce, and zero red, on my shelf. Aside from all the just straight up 505 green chilies. This is aside from several pounds of roasted chilies in my freezer.
My Trixie girl. 3yrs ago today. We rescued her from a shelter as hospice. The shelter vet gave her a month to live. We just wanted her to pass in a loving home , not a cage. She lived almost a year and a half with help of a great vet. She loved everyone and only barked when dinner was late.
