I am thinking today of Motel of the Mysteries, a delightful book detailing a long-future excavation of a standard motel. I encountered it before I read about Schliemann’s excavations of Troy, and when I saw the pictures of his wife wearing jewelry from the hoard I thought, "Wait a minute…."
