This is all I know. A local friend said it was caused by a garden bonfire. Who on earth would be so moronically stupid at this time???
You were an absolute star, @odbof85.bsky.social (noted by @royandtanyaorganic.bsky.social). I went to both you suggested and found the most wonderful scarf at the place I photographed below. I’d not have continued persevering without your encouragement. Thanks v much. A piece of Lyonnaise heritage!
Good morning Lots and lots and lots of walking yesterday, enjoying the beautiful city of Lyon Rinse and repeat today I think, with the possible introduction of a boat trip on the river (options yet to be fully researched) Basilica of Notre Dame is one of the most extraordinary places I’ve ever seen
Light Stained glass reflections Cathedrale de Saint Jean Baptiste in Lyon
Saw what looked like smoke in the distance (1st pic). A 35x zoom (yep, new phone!) reassured us that its power station cooling towers (2nd pic). Bugey nuclear power station on the Rhone Wonderful panoramic spot at Fourvière for a second café allongée
Good morning from Lyon Enjoyed a walk around the city centre late yesterday pm, despite lurking migraine effects (but a sleep had helped) and an excellent dinner including the inestimable Oeufs meurette (if you don’t know, google, it’s a sublime dish) Lots more walking today, not sure yet where!
Good morning BlueSky Friday again! How quickly the weeks roll round, the fewer of them one has ahead … sobering thought … Off to Brighton shortly on the train, see you later Here’s a pretty moth I spotted yesterday on a pot on our balcony
Good morning BlueSky Even though I’ve not worked for a while now Monday always feels like the start of something new Hoping for progress on the house purchase Pic is the striking stained glass window at the nearby Catholic church with the replica of the Sistine Chapel ceiling we visited last week
Good morning Fabulous concert last night in a huge church almost completely full. Good to see teenagers singing as well as the more golden oldies usually found in choirs. All great but strings in the orchestra particularly good. Happy birthday to our estimable son in law Have a good day everyone
Good morning BlueSky Off to a concert this evening and before that intending to make a start pinning down some of the variables in our current lives The English conveyancing system is so difficult!! Have a good day whatever is on your agenda Picture shows the name in the glass of one of the workers
Winkworth Arboretum (NT) yesterday, a lovely (mostly) shady place to walk
Good morning BlueSky Breezy at the Sussex seaside and even felt a little chill in the early hours! Pleasant change … Meeting our beloved family at Winkworth Arboretum today. Never been there before so that’s a bonus on top of family joy. What are you up to? Have a good day whatever you’re doing
Good morning BlueSky The breeze blowing in through the windows is very welcome indeed and hopefully will take the temperature of the apartment down a little. Enjoy this cooling Annabelle! And have a good day too 😊
Morning Cathy, morning ORCs Have a good day all A little breeze coming through the windows here which is very welcome
Good morning Phew it’s hot already, even at the Sussex seaside Stay cool if you can Allium seedheads shining in the sunshine
Good morning BlueSky Visited a brilliant NGS garden yesterday, Town Place near Haywards Heath, a bit of a schlepp from us but well worth it. A combination of a great design aesthetic and interesting and striking planting. I’ll post a few “object” photos …
Good afternoon (missed good morning today 🙄) Saponaria officinalis, growing well in a friend’s garden in SWFrance despite temperatures over 40 last week One of about thirty different common names is soapwort
Good morning BlueSky friends Definitely cooler today after rain late afternoon and overnight which is a welcome relief to wildlife and the land as well as humans Wonderful wedding yesterday, filled with joy, love, friendship, and happiness The light was rather nice this morning Have a good day
Good morning from back in rural south west France. Temperature up into the 40s on arrival yesterday, pretty hideous. Currently sitting in slightly cooler morning air enjoying tea. Have seen a hare, a hoopoe, and a deer. The land is looking parched. A storm (a very wet one) is badly needed.
Good morning Bluesky Very high temperatures forecast everywhere but it’s blowing an absolute hoolie here at the seaside which feels a little counter-intuitive There were hollyhocks everywhere in Walberton on Sunday Wonderful plants, & all in good condition This had a slightly greenish tinge to it
