This response from my congressman is SO BAD. I think this is a massively delayed response to my first angry call in January, but like. DUDE. Why are you being a weird freak about Iran and our precious troops? Guess I get to call again to be mad about this shitty email.

Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns about President Trump launching the war with Iran.

On February 28, 2026, the United States and Israel jointly launched military strikes on Iran, targeting the country’s military infrastructure and its military and political leadership, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Weeks later, the goals of the war and the strategy for winning it remain unclear.

The Constitution is clear: only Congress has the authority to take our nation to war. President Trump started this war without seeking authorization from, or even consultation with Congress and the American people. Our people, and the world at large, now carry the burden of this fight without a clear sense of why.

Iran is a bad actor: it is an existential threat to its neighbors across the Gulf, the wider Arab world and Israel, who all contend with missile and drone strikes and attacks by Iranian-funded extremist organizations. Iran is also a strategic threat to the United States and our allies. Since its founding in 1979, the Islamic Republic has been defined by chants of “Death to America, Death to Israel,” and for more than three decades it has been developing its nuclear capabilities, advanced ballistic missile program, and global terror infrastructure.

Ayatollah Khamenei was responsible for killing hundreds of Americans in the Lebanon Marine Barracks bombing in 1983 and hundreds more with IEDs during the Iraq War, as well as many civilians in terrorist attacks. Iran’s strongmen have also committed atrocities against their people—killing tens of thousands of innocent civilians just this year.

Irrespective of the Iranian regime’s crimes, President Trump still has a moral obligation and a Constitutional responsibility to make the case for war to the American people. We must know the Administration’s plan to stabilize the region and ensure this war has a successful outcome. There must be safeguards in place to prevent Iran’s stockpiles of weapons and highly enriched uranium from being captured by terrorists. We need a clear strategy to ensure the Iranian people are not subjected to another oppressive regime.

This is a moment of peril and opportunity. Congress must ensure American action—with our allies in the region and around the world—leads to a more stable and peaceful Middle East, not another generational entanglement ending in failure. That is why on March 5, I voted in support of House Resolution 38, the bipartisan War Powers Resolution. The resolution reaffirmed Congress’ constitutional power to solely declare war.

Thank you again for reaching out to me. Let us keep in our hearts our troops in harm’s way, and pray for their success and safe return to their families and communities.

It's like 95% humidity here in the summer, but right NOW, it's like 19% humidity in my apartment and I'm dying. So I finally caved and got a teeny little humidifier I can tuck away most of the year. MOISTURE, COME TO ME. I'M SO TIRED OF GOING THROUGH SO MUCH LIP BALM.

The stagehands watched as he carefully wiped down his violin, then set it carefully into its case, as he loosened the tension in his bow and set it in place.

The case closed with satisfying clicks as he ran his thumbs over the clasps, forcing them to lock in place one by one.

Safe.

His violin was, finally, properly safe.

Avel threw his head back for a moment, took a deep breath, then fumbled for his jacket. The theater manager had joined them to hover.

“Would you like us to call you a cab?”

Avel stood again, throwing his jacket over the arm on his cane and hooking the other hand around his violin case. “Please.”

The manager nodded. “Are you quite certain you’re all right? Not to intrude, Mr. Martins, but you still look quite weak. One of us can accompany you if—”

Avel held back his grimace. “No need. Thank you.” He tapped his cane against the floor twice, soft thumps to draw attention. “I’m sorry for having scared you.”

Every worker for the concert hall in earshot dropped their gazes to stare at the cane. He didn’t meet any of their eyes.

Sure, if they're baked, which tends to be somewhat uncommon. Frex, I would consider pirozhki a dumpling. It is also considered a meat pie, but it's dough wrapped around a filling.
