Alberta NDP MLA for Edmonton-Glenora Official Opposition Shadow Minister of Hospitals and Surgical Facilities sarahhoffman.ca
I was happy to find time today to give blood. Whole blood supplies are currently low, and every donation can help save lives. If you're able, please consider booking an appointment with Canadian Blood Services and making a donation. It’s in you to give. ❤️ www.blood.ca/en
Alberta’s emergency departments are in crisis. For months, Alberta’s NDP have been calling on Danielle Smith to act as underfunding, staffing shortages, and overcrowding pushes EDs to the breaking point.
Camping is one of the best parts of an Alberta summer. But when emergencies happen, people need to know help is close by. Rural emergency department closures are putting Albertans and our tourism industry at risk. It's time for the UCP to invest in reliable rural public health care.
For immediate release June 23, 2026 Sarah Hoffman, Shadow Minister for Hospitals and Surgical Services, issued the following statement: “The UCP government’s announcement does not address the problems cancer patients are experiencing right now... www.albertandpcaucus.ca/news/post/ca...
Reversing this bad decision by the UCP is good news. I’m glad that the current minister responsible is stopping some of the potentially dangerous decisions made by the UCP. This minister has stopped with the EMS rebrand and tearing apart of emergency response teams.
For immediate release June 18, 2026 UCP TO CHARGE ALBERTANS FOR SURGERIES IN PUBLIC HOSPITALS Danielle Smith and the UCP moved to privatize public health care, including having Albertans pay for surgeries in public hospitals for the first time. Read more: www.albertandpcaucus.ca/news/post/uc...
Proud to join thousands of Albertans at the Fight Back Now rally in Edmonton today. Albertans want action on affordability, health care, and public education, not separatist distractions. It’s clear people have had enough. It’s time for a better government. Alberta's NDP are ready. ✊🍊
What an incredible Lobsterfest! 🦞 A huge thank you to everyone who came out and to the amazing volunteers who helped make it all happen. I’m so grateful for this community and proud to stand together as we fight for a better future for all Albertans. Looking forward to next year already!
I'm always inspired by the creativity and talent of constituents in our community. Unique ideas like this specialty licence plate show the pride and passion that make our community so special.
Creating a separate line for people who pay out of pocket for necessary medical care is absolutely in complete contradiction of the Canada Health Act. It breaks the law and it should be unallowed.
Rural Alberta deserves fair representation & real democracy. The UCP knew Alberta’s population had grown by 800,000 when they set 89 seats. Now they don’t like the independent commission’s maps because they couldn’t rig them. Instead of respecting their process, Danielle Smith wants to blow it up.
Danielle Smith promised to protect public health care in the election, but it’s clear every day that the UCP just wants American-style private health care.
Thank you to everyone who joined me for my coffee chat at Island Brew Coffee House today! 🏝️ ☕️
We love our province AND our country, and we’re ready to fight back against separatism and the rhetoric putting it all at risk. For Alberta, For Canada is for everyone who wants to take action ahead of an upcoming separatism referendum.
Lots of announcements, but no actual money in the budget for construction.
It's been over one month since the UCP government promised to hire triage doctors, who were supposed to be in place on February 1st, but nothing has been done. They've been more focused on hiring fancy consultants and coming up with new buzz words, while dismantling public health care. #abhealth
It was great to wrap up last week meeting with Caelen, a MacEwan University social work student on practicum in my colleague MLA Lorne Dach’s office. I first met her when I visited her Gr. 6 class. We had a thoughtful conversation about the issues impacting our community.
"Experts say Bill 11, the Health Statutes Amendments Act, represents the foundations for the first two-tier health-care system in Canada... (1/2)
Albertans deserve to know that when they go to the hospital for urgent care, they can get it without delay. That's why we're calling on the UCP to: ➡ Declare a state of emergency for Alberta’s emergency rooms. ➡ Reinstate a central command for coordination and decision-making. (1/2)
“I, Sarah Hoffman, MLA for Edmonton-Glenora, affirm that I am a proud Albertan and a proud Canadian. I am opposed to separatism and I will make my position known and clear to my constituents.” I am hoping all my MLA colleagues will do the same.
Big thanks to the workers clearing sidewalks, roads, and bike lanes after yesterday’s snowfall! Your hard work in the cold keeps our city moving safely and we appreciate what you do. If you see someone out there today, give them a wave or a thank you! Stay warm and watch for icy spots.
Chag Sameach! 🕎 Wishing Alberta’s Jewish community peace and joy this Hanukkah. May the light of the menorah remind us of resilience, hope, and the strength of community.
The fall legislative session has ended with the UCP bringing closure to end debate on their harmful legislative agenda. The whole point of parliamentary democracy is to make sure that we are all heard and this government has no interest in hearing the voices of anyone who dissents with them.
Alberta's New Democrats are always proud to stand with health care workers.
ICYMI: A tentative deal was reached with @aupe.org AHS Nursing Care members avoiding a strike. The deal came through shortly after I got to the picket line on Saturday. Huge respect for the LPNs and health care aides who stood strong for a fair outcome.
Had an amazing time at the All Is Bright Festival on 124 Street on Saturday! ✨❄️ It’s always great to see our community come together to celebrate the season and support our incredible local shops. Thank you to Shop 124 Street & Area for another fantastic event. Already excited for next year! ☃
