In aviation but incurably curious about renewable energy & clean tech. Blame the Physics degree
Could be. Didn’t see many new houses to be fair. Though I did see an extension being built with external wall insulation, but no solar.
Pretty decent July on the solar. Plus cashed in a load of Savings Sessions points (another one tonight) so made over £100 on the balance this month, £400 sat in the war chest for winter so far. Should work out about right I think.
The i4 (e40) has completely changed that. Can drive however I like and even if I set off with 80% it’s ok to do the distance. Pretty much like driving ICE again tbh. And when you do need to DC charge, my word it’s fast!
Corfu. Solar, battery & LED streetlights. 😍 Must save a fortune on cabling etc. I guess they’ve probably got enough insolation to run these all night even in the depths of winter?
Cambridge South (Addenbrookes hospital) station has opened recently. Very pleasing to see the choice of materials used for the platform canopy:
First time DC charging the i4, very impressed. Seeing over 200kW almost immediately was very cool.
These PV panels are huge, must be 1kW each? Awesome walls of solar going up in Basel the other day.
Finally the rather arbitrary but satisfying threshold of 70kWh in a day has been achieved! About as perfect a solar curve as I’ll ever see.
May’s bill is in. Octopus *PAID ME* £67, for over 2,000 miles driving, running & heating the house (yes, really - remember the cold snap just before the heatwave?!) Obvs I’d have to add capital repayment for the PV & battery, and premium over a gas boiler/ICE cars. Still bloody good though 😎
First Vestas 15MW monster turbine complete in Dutch project The size of that thing! 😮 www.facebook.com/share/p/1Bwj...
Oooh what’s this? Has Dogger Bank got over their 200MW export limit at long last? @robhawkes.bsky.social @stockfttp.bsky.social @wiilp.bsky.social
I love a good heat pump but this is an absolute unit! So deep. Not sure why though? 🤔
Electrification de France. Anyone know what subsidies if any we give to e-motorcycles in 🇬🇧?
Absolutely scorchio today. 37kWh. Haven’t seen that much produced in a day for ages! 😎 ☀️
I wanna know what this guy is up to, just zigzagging vaguely North-South. I’m guessing fishing boat?
January’s usage is predictably high. The plan of using the battery to run the house using off-peak electricity is working pretty well. 97% at the low rate is pleasing 😁 Minimal solar export income to be expected for this time of year. ASHP used 875kWh, UFH & elec rad ~340, house ~300
Latest rage bait dragging in the old is about tomatoes being taken out of pasta sauces to comply with a sugar limit.
Seems like a load of rage bait headlines about pensioners being targeted to pay more road tax have come out today. I’ve read the articles and it seems that an increase *for everyone* is being presented as a raid on pensioners. What am I missing here? Am I being a bit thick?
Found this image while looking into water depths. It shows really nicely just how quickly the depth drops off the SW coast. Basically any deeper than 40m is not really competitive at the moment I think?
Dogger Bank A still at 20%, while Neighbours at 100% despite being basically finished. How long till they can max out I wonder? @stockfttp.bsky.social did you find a reason for the limit & a estimate for full production? Can’t remember what you found last time?
A bit more wind would be really quite helpful just now… dare I mention Dunkelflaute or will @tomh-analyst.bsky.social tell me off 😂
-5° and the heat pump is working its arse off. The battery which usually lasts all day is down at 25% by 10 am. 22kWh used in 4hrs! 😬 Ah well, it’s not often like this so I’m not too bothered. It is interesting to follow though
