I’m cleared to tell you I have a work of long fiction, “A Touch of Excitement,” in the upcoming anthology Street Magic III. It’s an urban fantasy mystery thriller set in NYC. The book launches in August, BUT all Street Magic anthologies will be available in the upcoming “Bundle of Bundles” offer

I sloughed off on buying Doc Savage Bantam reissues in the ‘80s, but I made sure to pick up the final collection of the shorter tales when it was issued in 1990.

I wrote a story for a cool anthology called Unknown Heroes vs. the Forces of Darkness about a young woman touring England on horseback, inspired by the real-life Celia Fiennes. She ultimately battles a revenant-style vampiric creature in and around the old Roman resort at Bath. 1/3

If you haven’t seen her in my feed before, meet my cat Zoë, the culprit when strange sounds in the night occur and when remembered text converts Zor to Zoe. Don’t even get me started about my diaeresis wars.

Supergirl is maybe a little Guardians of the Galaxy with Kara Zoe-El in it, with a dash of Furiosa, but I found it enjoyable. Good to have it atypical and work its way to Supergirl. Maybe coulda used a little more Lobo. Thought Milly Alcock was great.

Vintage paperbacks from my early reading life. I first read Lawrence Block in his Writer's Digest column and happened to pick up an Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine around the same time with his fab story "A Candle for the Bag Lady." One book led to another.

I've probably become best known for Gnelfs, especially in recent years. It's been reissued with Paperbacks from Hell-era cover art. In Gnelfs, there's a mention of the historical character Matthew Laird, a Crowley acolyte. His legacy becomes important in my newest novel, A Disturbance of Shadows.

Since those Doc Savage books seemed to be of interest and generated some conversation, here are a couple of editions of Quest of Qui and a Phantom City, showing Doc in different climes. Those are July 1976 Bantam re-issues with $1.25 cover price. James Bama covers on the Bantams.

I’ve been sifting through my paperback reissues of pulp novels of late. Fans know Lester Dent actually wrote Doc Savage under the Kenneth Robeson “house name,” mostly. But details are tricky. Dent wrote The Evil Gnome on the left. The Red Terrors on the right was written by Harold A. Davis.
