Curious writer. Aprendiendo español. ‘Ephemeral City’ is available now. Stories and ephemera published in a box that can be read in any order you like. Follow along with my new book in progress.
About 40k words of notes distilled into cards and arranged in what I think will be one of the orders of chapters. Shit's complicated, okay?
Long day in the story mines, folks. Time to unwind with some appropriate tunes.
There’s a squirrel on the field. This is the most exciting thing that’s happened so far.
When I get an idea for the story I take a note down on whatever is handy. This time it’s my phone and as the title suggests I think I might have solved a particularly gnarly narrative problem.
Against my will I watched part of an AI conference yesterday. Over four hours these were the only notes I took.
Winter has arrived. Like all good Queenslanders this house is a glorified tent so it’s 13° inside. Yes the windows are still open.
The more Spanish I learn, the more wary I get of translating idioms literally. Too often I find out “yeah in Bolivia that actually means you have diseased genitals” or something.
So now it’s finally (?) on its way again. What else could go wrong? Maybe the package will just spontaneously combust when it reaches her door.
I’m obliged to wear maroon tonight so I’ve gone for one of my “if you know you know” shirts.
Wow. Picked up an old book from the shelf and found this little piece of ephemera from 2002 that I’d used as a bookmark. I can see where I was living and working at the time based on the bus route numbers.
Well that was a complete arse of a week. Time to listen to some unadulterated joy.
