Rachel Marsden (of which there are about 4 in my lineage) was Baptized at St. Paul’s in 1875 in Metlakatla by the Church of England. So… here we go down a rabbit hole. 🙂 Was she an Auntie? Grandmother? Cousin? Do I need to go on a road trip? 😁✨💪🏼♾️🪶
Stay in your lane, soft serve ice cream machine instructions! Nobody is buying this to be healthier! 🤣 I feel judged. But also, ice cream for breakfast!? 🍦
I beaded a big bougie auntie earring! I have ADHD so it’ll be a year or so before I finish the other one! 🤣😂🙃
This is becoming a “rainy evening in summer” dinner tradition. Hamburgers this week, as I’ve reached my hot dog quota for a while.
I spent 4 hours doing accounting stuff. Dinner is as follows. Probably followed by ice cream because too much adulting for a Saturday.
Preparing for tomorrow’s Indigenous People’s Day tour at Ross Bay Cemetery… came across my notes for Dewdney and it just says “spit.” 🤣🤣 No, he’s not part of the tour. But yes, I might spit silently in my head as we walk by. 2pm, main gate off Fairfield - see you there! #yyj
I just MC’d a 3-day gathering with 50+ delegates. I will be beading in my underwear (alone, in my room 😁) for the rest of the day.
My hands raised, my heart full, my soul humbled by the Métis communities in BC who came together to create this beautiful commemorative blanket honouring their MMIWG2S+ friends and relatives. Thank you so much to Lheidli T’enneh, for the warm welcome and friendship this weekend.
We’re getting fancy tonight! (I don’t trust hotel glasses because I never see proper bus bins on maid carts).
I believe this weather is called “stir fry by the fire in the gazebo” weather. A cousin of “roasted hot dogs/marshmallows” but fancier.
Apparently it’s going to rain for the next few days, so I’m eating dinner outside, albeit under a big grey cloud…
I don’t want to brag, but I found the bottom of my laundry basket! 🤣
Got a survey from the Vancouver Canucks… the team located on Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh and Squamish territory. I bet there’s a lot of Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh and Squamish fans that go to games and shop at shops etc. Too bad they (nor any other First Nations) get to be a choice on the survey.
Fire and ice. Kinda like the sun and hail storms this afternoon…? Anyhoo, way too much time on the computer today. It’s outside time.
[stereotypically] Women need to be employed to read directions on man-tools like lawn mowers, because to me “right handle” = right side, not left side. Took me a while to realize “right handle” probably means “correct handle.” It’s not wrong, it’s just not intuitive/poor choice of words. 🤔
HAPPY REX MANNING DAY to all who celebrate! Also, it’s my birthday… so much to celebrate today! 🤣 🎉🧁✨
There are 800 other things I should be doing, but instead I might just fall asleep out here. ✨🔥🎥🍿
Remember that time you had a long weekend, an outdoor fire, an audiobook, some tea, and a cinnamon bun?
A lovely night for an outdoor fire and maybe a movie. If I have the patience to set up the projector.
Pretty sure the last Canucks game I went to, Pavel Bure and/or Trevor Linden were playing in… 😃 It’s so fancy now with laser lights and stuff. We used to have to clean the ice ourselves between innings, and hold multiple candles when it got dark. 😉
Pillow cheesecake. It’s a thing and a rule when traveling. I don’t make the rules but I do follow them.
