I was known as jaliranchr on Twitter since 2008. I love dogs, gardening, hockey (DU and Avalanche) and other hobbies. Avid student of the history of the American West and WWII, and I'm a news junkie. Colorado plains resident who didn't vote for BoBoBert.
Denver Pioneer iris, hybridized by a gentleman that lives near the University. He no longer sells to the public. Boy, they are blooming late this year, but just as stunning as always. So glad they bloomed when I wasn't sure, this year.
The latest addition to my Denver Pioneer Natty puck collection arrived. Still scouring for one from 2005.
Happy International Pet Day. Rawhide and Donny are prepped for a hockey double-header, ready to howl and bark when Mama cheers for the Denver Pioneers and then the Colorado Avalanche.
Pulling out proper attire for the National Championship DI Hockey game between Denver and Wisconsin—two old rivals in the defunct WCHA. Go Pios!
Happy Easter to all who celebrate. Blessed this morning with a glimpse of the first hatchling at the Ft. St. Vrain eagle nest to add to the celebration. A second egg has a pip. Ma and Pa taking turns at the nest.
Happiest Holidays to all. Donny and Rawhide will get new beds in the morning and immediately start squabbling about who gets which one. As long as they don't get underfoot as dinner is prepared.
The Swainson's hawks will begin their autumnal migration to South America soon. For the time being, they are spending their afternoons gathering on a Century Link tower.
The men of my Dad's 807th Tank Destroyer Battalion were not "suckers and losers". They are buried in the same cemetery as George S. Patton in Luxembourg. They are honored heroes who gave all for our freedom.
The first of my Denver Pioneer iris in bloom. They came from a hybridizer in south Denver, near DU, who no longer sells to the public. So glad I got this variety years ago.
Rawhide and Donny are glad I pulled the big pillow out for Game 7 against the Stars. Gooooooooo Avs!
Rawhide and Donny are ready for a howling good run in the NHL playoffs. Gooooo Avs!
Six Swainson hawks in the ash tree across the street. The songbirds are silent, the squirrels aren't racing around and my dogs don't go outside without me until they depart.
I resist this administration in the memory of my Dad. He was an 18 YO tank destroyer gunner in Patton's 3rd Army at Metz, the 9th when crossing the Rhine, back to the 3rd to liberate the Moosberg POW camp followed by Dachau. He fought them. I'll fight them!
My dear Rawhide (under Wednesday) made the March page of the Tibetan Spaniel calendar. Believe me, he knows he's already a star and expects to be treated as such.
I can't even finish my coffee before pleading eyes and shifting paws want me to fill the puzzles for another round.
I am following my Dad's route through the final year of WWII. He was a tank destroyer gunner, Company B, in the 807th TD Battalion in Patton's Third Army. They were on their way to the Fortifications of Metz this day 80 years ago.
Hello Bluesky! Just arrived here. Looking forward to more of the hockey and weather people to arrive. Our early snow storm left this unique melting, tilting snow toilet outside my office window. Looking forward to fun, as well as learning and being informed as things used to be.
