18 years ago tonight I went on my last first date for the rest of my life. We went to dinner, then we saw the Dark Knight Then we made out a little in her car. It was pretty great. It still is. Happy first dateaversary. #LoveIsCool
I'm showing this picture I took this morning to every avacado I have for the rest of my life to establish my expectations. I will also show a picture of each avacado's family & one of guacamole so it knows what will happen if those expectations are not met. Long story short, I had a great breakfast.
This week I read #NeverCaughtTheStoryOfOnaJudge by #EricaArmstrongDunbar & #KathleenVanCleve and #OneDayEveryoneWillHaveAlwaysBeenAgainstThis by #OmarElAkkad. Both excellent reads. Be honest with yourself about where we came from & where we are. We can & should do better. #DoTheWork
Most people never even get to meet their hero, much less spend every day of their lives with them. My wife is my hero. She embodies all of the best aspects of being a human. She's empathetic, smart, funny, kind, curious, loving, and strong. I want to be her when I grow up. Happy Birthday lover.

I finished this tonight & if you found 1984 unsettling then give this a whirl. It was written in 1935 & damn if it couldn't have been written today. The old timey language took some getting used to but the bigotry used by the oppressors was fresh off the griddle. #DoTheWork #ItCantHappenHere

The thing about being married to the best person you've ever met for 15 years is that it doesn't feel like 15 years. It still feels fresh and fun and new. I still get a thrill every time I make her laugh. Every time she flirts back I think "She really likes me!" I am so lucky Happy Anniversary
For 17 years now I've been dad to a kid with Down Syndrome. My language & world view have matured in those years. I've learned that people using THAT word don't see Maggie as a whole person. I pity them & their small ignorant worlds. Do you see Maggie as a whole person? #DadLife #DownSyndromeDiva
I finished this book yesterday. It's nice to read about others examining their privilege & its implications. I liked the autobiographical viewpoint & how the author illustrates how deeply ingrained stereotypes & bigotry are in our society. Good read. #DoTheWork #WhiteLikeMe #TimWise

I finished this last weekend. I'm glad I read it. As is frequently the case, as bad as I assumed things were, they were far far worse. They continue to be bad. I so desperately want the world to be a better place. Turning a blind eye to history won't improve anything. #DoTheWork

Today I finished A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn. Wow, not only does history repeat itself, it doesn't even bother to make enough changes to fool a plagiarism checker. Same font & everything. The book is a great argument for #NoWarButClassWar. It's LONG but worth the time.
