Todd Blanche was confirmed this morning. It’s disappointing but we will keep filing cases and winning in courts. But our history can teach us how short term losses may very well lead to a bigger win in the end. (Yes I’m at a battlefield today — mom of a 10 year old boy 🤷♀️) 1/2
BREAKING: As @democracyforward.org continues to represent brave plaintiffs challenging the $1.76 billion slush fund, we have now filed a first of its kind case on behalf of IRS workers to block the Trump and Trump family IRS immunity deal.
When asked about building trust in the American Dream at @aspenideas.bsky.social I could not let it go unsaid that this year’s decision by the US Supreme Court decimating Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act is a blow to the American dream and a blow to social trust. 1/3
Thrilled to announce our first DC stop on the Ordinary People, Extraordinary Times book tour. I’ll be in conversation with @eugenedaniels2.bsky.social at @politicsprose.bsky.social on 8/26 — join us for a discussion on how we can all meet this important moment. #booksky 💡💙📚@democracyforward.org
Thoughts on the way to @ms.now about why Todd Blanche’s promises about the slush fund are not enough and what our team of attorneys at @democracyforward.org is doing in court — we aren’t fooled and it isn’t over.
Courage is not the absence of fear, it requires fear. It is not a knight in shining armor riding in on a horse, it’s often people who are quaking in their boots. But we must show up anyway. 1/ #booksky💡💙📚

Our country’s history makes one thing clear: real change has always come because the people have demanded it. We must do so now. Thank you to Stephanie Streett & @clintoncenter.bsky.social for having me and our @democracyforward.org team to Little Rock. Let’s keep going.
Okay folks, we are 100 days out. Time to get to work. Our team at Democracy Forward has a 100 day of action plan. Find a friend or partner, recruit your kids, let’s go 👉 democracyforward.org/act/100-days...
No matter what Donald Trump says tonight, the elections in our country belong to the people. Some thoughts — and what you can do.
Here’s what you should know about the latest tragic ICE killing and what you can do to mobilize your community. 🧵
Oh the White House wants Teddy? Then, let’s Teddy: “To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.” -TR Kansas City 1918
I was honored to speak at LULAC’s Women’s Hall of Fame Luncheon last week in Fort Worth. @lulacorg.bsky.social is setting an example for us all in building solidarity and driving impact. Thank you for having me.
We’ve been told it can’t be done over and over. No offense but… we keep winning. The lesson: if you don’t fight, you can’t win. @weeknightmsnow.bsky.social @symonedsanders.bsky.social @democracyforward.org
Trump’s unlawful attempts to undermine our elections should concern everyone. The struggle for voting rights is a generational fight. And it’s going to take every single American to ensure that our voices are not silenced at the ballot box.
Protecting democracy will take all of us. On June 29, I'll be at @aspenideas.bsky.social talking about what that means for business leaders, for communities, and for democracy. "The American Dream at a Crossroads: Business Leadership, Democracy & Opportunity"
Started a war. Killed school girls and our troops. Prices up. To get what exactly? Back to where we started. Not exactly the Art of the Deal.
This administration and its allies underestimate the power of ordinary people. I don’t and never will. I talked with @cnn.com about the stakes of this moment.
The Department of Justice refuses to confirm that it is backing down from President Trump’s slush fund. So in the meantime, as I told @weeknightmsnow.bsky.social, our team at @democracyforward.org won in court to block it.
Soccer belongs to everyone. Everyone deserves to fully participate, enjoy, and celebrate this FIFA World Cup without fear of encountering ICE. #NoICEintheCup
Over the last few years, I’ve heard from so many people who care deeply about what’s happening in our country but aren’t sure where to start. That’s why I wrote Ordinary People, Extraordinary Times.
Some of us didn’t melt down on the Sunday shows. The President can continue writing checks he can’t cash — we’ll continue meeting him in court every time. Thank you @democracyforward.org.
Our win to keep Trump from implementing the corrupt slush fund until the courts consider its legality was a positive step. I joined brave plaintiffs, including @commoncause.org, along w/ @senwhitehouse.bsky.social and @durbin.senate.gov to call on Congress and demand an end to Trump’s slush fund.
This administration is trying to normalize President Trump’s unconstitutional overreaches of power — but the courts aren’t falling for it. I joined @legalafmtn.bsky.social to break down the latest win in our case freezing the president’s illegal slush fund.
This is a hard time. Rights decimated. Institutions letting us down. But we know our history. This is an old, old fight in a new time. And it’s our turn to do our part for freedom and for the future.
Those before us demanded, marched, and fought for the right to vote. It’s our turn now. The people will have the final say. Join us in Montgomery if you can — if you can’t make it, take action here: allroadsleadtothesouth.com
The single largest days of nonviolent direct action in our country's history have taken place over the last year. I’m joining thousands of activists and leaders in Montgomery, AL for tomorrow’s day of action to march in defense of voting rights.
Today’s unanimous ruling is another major victory for transparency and the rule of law. We at @democracyforward.org will continue fighting to ensure that the admin cannot operate these facilities in secrecy – especially as reports of overcrowding, abuse, and deaths in custody continue to grow.
