He/Him, Age: 23 Platformers and JRPGS are my bread and butter. In between games, I’m writing and working on myself and my life Blog: Sky’s Write-Up Compendium Currently Playing: Trails into Reverie Getting Over the Barrier
Copano Rickey is still kicking my ass but we got some light hello free pulls so daily thread thing
Sonic Robo Blast 2 (6/30/26) For a nearly 30 year old fan project it’s still pretty fun even today, especially with character and stage mods. Base game was good but fell off around Arid Canyon Zone onwards Gonna be trying a bunch of mods on this one over time
No more distractions tho I've been on this part of the series since 2022, tiem to wrap it up 🫡
LarsGadiel A Metroidvania designed around the NES era. One of those demos where all I could really say is that I thought it was good. Demo ends after the first boss so there’s a lot I can’t really form definitive feelings on rn
RoboGAL Gaga Delta Lady We see a lot of Mega Man X/Zero style games that finding one based on classic Mega Man was weirdly refreshing. Pretty much just classic MM through and through, with more detailed sprite work and a pretty good OST. Sprites feel a bit small for my liking, but I had fun
70s Style Robot Anime Geppy-X An upcoming remaster of a JP exclusive PS1 game. The real charm here though is the game’s commitment to being a 70s Mecha anime through and through. Openings and endings, animated cutscenes, level transitions being commercial breaks for fake products. These people care
Hyper Bun Buster Arcade style game that reminds me of Bomberman a bit, though this one revolves around bump combat. This was super cute and simple to understand, with timing playing a key role in every interaction. Would love to pick up one day 👍
Magical Blush Top down level-based Metroidvania that revolves around magical combat where you have to keep in mind recharge times for your spells. Honestly hooked me way more than I thought it would! The sprite work is gorgeous and the gameplay felt fun even with the demo limited moveset
Udongein X2 Mega Man X meets Touhou with a SA2 Chao Garden thrown in the mix. It was ok, but compared to a traditional X game movement and flow felt rather stiff, and to me the high speed shooting and dodging was what makes an X game so special. Not terrible, but not a must pick up for me
Games on steam that I think people should be playing and talking about more
Mario and Luigi Dream Team (6/12/26) Well made game that takes a lot of what happened in BiS and further develops on it, while incorporating aspects from the entire sub series. Game losses steam once you’re sent to find the Ultibed parts, but I still had fun in the end
Summer reveal season has wrapped up at this point so here’s the big ones I have my eye on There were other games that caught my attention, but these are the ones I’m most likely to grab close to launch should life allow it
It’s probably the brainrot talking but like i get so much similar energy from both these screenshots that it’s unironically driving me hype for Xenoblade Genesis through the roof If you couldn’t tell i really love DQ8
Kid Icarus Uprising (6/6/26) One of the most charming and charismatic games ever created. The dialogue is consistently great and arguably the strongest in Nintendo’s history. The gameplay was pretty fun and I was able to adjust to the admittedly cumbersome controls. Love this one
