Vintage 70s frame running GenX OS, patched to woke-1.9.1stable. Bikes, synths, maps, code, LCC, homegrown, homebrewed, climate, G/green. Croydon & Sarf London. Personal views only. Does things you've not heard of for people you have.
Four-year running mean temperature, UK, 1960 (9.2ºC) - present day (11.2ºC and rising):
Perfectly ripe, fresh from the tree, and about as close to a big fat snog from Mother Nature Herself as mortal man can dare to dream.
Some are still around. In central ish London there's the Wandle, Deptford Creek / Ravensbourne River (home of Dave and his mural), the Lea, even a short stubby stretch of Neckinger with occasional visiting seal.
It's a warehouse next to SELCHP and the train tracks. Trains were still running right past half an hour ago, hopefully it's under control and nobody hurt. For a split second I thought I was hallucinating Ukraine footage when I saw this from Blackfriars 😬
A little #momentofjoy for you all this morning. "Puddle & Pumpkin" doggy day care service, Myatt's Fields, London.
#plotlife culinary discovery of the year. These are silverbeet/chard tops, we get loads every year but I'd always assumed they'd be bitter and inedible, being "bolted" veg. Turns out they're v tasty, in between sprouting broccoli and spinach. 2 minute blanch then fry up quickly w/ garlic. Nom.
I think the idea is you're meant to use the shared pavement and the crossings to get you onto the blue two-way track along East India Dock Road?
Ten days out, so may very well not materialise, but those are record-breaking numbers for May if it happens. 🥵
@opiumia.bsky.social Saw this and thought of you - friend of a friend can't ride it anymore and is looking to find it a good home. One for you and/or your tweed-y friends maybe - not sure how much they're looking for. Hope life's treating you well!
"Just one more. I swear it bro, it'll make the line go up..." The monkey's paw curls, and the line obliges.
Jubilee Gardens, London (where the Eye now stands), circa 1976. (am pretty sure my parents parked up there when we went to go watch the Royal Wedding in '81 - and look what colour Big Ben is, pre them cleaning off all the coal smoke 😬)
Sure thing, little Tommy, sure thing. Meanwhile his scum-of-the-earth supporters are doing this:
"Time for Tubby bye-byes", she snarled, as her fingers closed around the trigger.
Pavement parking isn't generally illegal. Broadly banned across London and some other city LA's, but even in London some streets are exempt, so we end up with stuff like this:
Red Kite from the other day. Not the clearest photo, but this phone struggles a bit at maximum zoom. Seeing these big'uns more often over S London lately, I wonder if they'll re-establish here as they have further north/west.
"The hippy is answering back." "I repeat, The Hippy Is Answering Back!"
