Cowboy Junkies - Black Eyed Man

I had to look - there is a Lee Ritenour version that scores mid on the yacht rock scale, so the bones are there. Got a little of the signature Doobie bounce to it.

You mean this one? Still have it and trust me i understood it at the time. But I wasn’t a child.

I used to have the flirtiest great big floofy golden retriever/lab mix that I offered to my young man friends wanting to meet girls. They really should have taken me up on it.

Happy Canada Day! In 2007 I was by chance celebrating it in beautiful Victoria.

Very high Yacht Rock score. That intro was the dead giveaway

#AT40 79 is the summer of my final road trip from Illinois to California - graduated and leaving the Midwest behind. I do remember a lot of these songs from the trip, Donna Summer especially.
With my trusty Nova, pre departure.

Hav by had a chance to post one of my Montego Bay pics for a while.

#AT40 Dec ‘70, my last month as a pre-teen. Here in my big sister role resplendent in fake fur.

#AT40 More old fashioned baby pics- here is my older half brother who would be 73 today. He was quite a character, gone for a very long time now. He introduced me to any pre70s music I know. 💕

#AT40 New ‘76 grad in the comically bad only pic I have of that day. Dad was no photographer. 😝

Ha, are you posting in German tonight?

Oh no that’s so sad. I still have this book from my college years in the 70s, one of the few I’ve kept. It made me want to keep reading history throughout my life. You were lucky to work closely with him.

#AT40 I’ve told the story of my brother Bill, my road trip copilot radio tuner who signed restaurant comment cards across the country as James Earl Ray, transient. We lost Bill 3 years ago today, way too soon. Here he is at Gettysburg.

#AT40 June 77, preparing for our epic road trip. That’s my blue Nova, mom’s Chevy wagon, and the house we left in Illinois. Our old neighbors still live across the street so I see it every few years.

#AT40 I got sidetracked realizing after 6 years living here that I can actually see the top of Red Rocks Amphitheater from certain angles on my deck!

#AT40 May ‘73, end of freshman year rocking my Bobbie Brooks outfit at my sister’s grade school graduation. Loved that green sweater!

#AT40 I do believe Barbra is the kind of performer who is inspired by her leading men. And why not?

#AT40 A couple of months later in 79, seeing my roomie off from ISU. We were juniors but this was my last semester since had enough credits to graduate, and was in a hurry, aka poor. And California was calling!

#AT40 From the archives. Not today.

Mine sitting in judgement of my screen time

Reminds me I got stopped at a goose crossing today

#AT40 I was in my HS senior year in the class of 76. I forgot I DID make the yearbook as a member of the Powder Puff football squad for homecoming in the previous fall. My big ol’ head with pigtails is in the middle of the 5th row from top.
