Not the first time the US had to dismantle an inhumane detention camp. This is what was left of Camp X-ray, the infamous open-air cages George Bush set up in Guantanamo Bay in 2002, when I visited GTMO on observer duty in 2006. My heart goes out to the people of #Cuba. I met a number of them in January - just before flights were suspended - and they impressed me with their resilience and dignity, and continuing hope for a better life. They deserve so much better than incompetent governance and malicious US coercion.
