For better or worse FIFA has a history of amending suspensions to make players available for World Cup matches that stretches before Ronaldo.
FIFA very clearly has rules about this! They exist, even the underlying rule about Referee’s decision is limited to “on-field” decisions- it does not mention VAR decisions that overturn those on-field decisions.
No rules were changed! They may have been wrongly applied, or their application was influenced improperly, but they were not changed!

The decision to give the card and the sending off is final, but it’s silent on whether the one match ban can be suspended per 27, which itself is not a review of the decision.

This is a beautiful piece. I am sure a big part of this MLS passage was the fact that he wasn’t in an elite academy, but again a big reason for that was thanks to FIFA regulations. Given he only had 1 U17 international cap before he turned 18, I don’t know if he’d have even been granted a visa.
