Okay I'm now leaning towards Western Marsh Orchids sinces its only May and we're about as far west on Achill as you can go without swimming #wildflowerhour
I've always had a special place in my heart for thrift flowers #wildflowerhour
Its purple orchid season on Achill, they're absolutely everywhere. I think Northern Marsh Orchids(?) but I do not stand over that ID. I'll have to get a better look without the dog. #wildflowerhour
It's all been about the violets and primroses for me since spring finally reached Achill. Saw my first swallow last week, chaffinches too and the first cuckoo of the year. Everything a bit late but getting there. #WildflowerHour
Making progress with a big outdoor project despite being slowed by the weather lately. I usually document more, helps motivate and its good to talk about invasive species but honestly being online lately has been more draining than energising.
This was some of the funnier litter picking I've done. When you see these videos of me talking and singing to myself, I need you to remember that my neighbours do pass me on the road 😅
Finn kept me company on a beach clean the other day but always looks so betrayed that I won't throw the litter for him
Daniel from Dublin, and 4 others have been imprisoned for allegedly disrupting an Elbit Systems facility in Ulm, Germany last month. Elbit is an Israeli weapons manufacturer whose weapons are central to Israel’s genocide. Daniel is held 23 hours daily in their cell, including meals, no phone calls
New episode of From the Roots two since the launch, I revisit the figures of that first overview, a number of current headlines and whether anything can be learned from Budget 2026 Text below and podcast wherever podcasts are found orlanidhuill.com/2025/10/14/s...
Great ecology walk in Brackloon Woods with the Mayo Queer Sheds on Sunday (before I got this wicked cold) for the start of fungi season
After I was done getting soaked from the thigh down and cover head to toe in mud while making this video about removing gunnera, a neighbour I hadn't met before stopped me on the road to say their son had sent her my tiktoks, I can only assume the mud gave me away 😂
finally finished a system agnostic version of one of my games, interested to hear how other people who use a lot of different systems day to day borrow from them into something new
I've noticed a really strange absence of frogs and frog spawn on Achill this spring. Thinking back I don't think I remember any last year either. Anyone know something I don't?
As a teenager and into my twenties I spent a lot of time in town alone and Pat Ingoldsby was such a fixture of my Saturdays. Conversations with him were never dull and Dublin is all the poorer without him.
It's very tenuously connected but this video of my frog residents is worth turning the audio on
Beach clean day. It's always a pain to disentangle this kind of rope and netting from the seaweed. I met a member of a local clean coasts group on the way home and that made it feel worth it.
