I’m in bed resting today, and Chester is in bliss.

Today was my Portland neighborhood parade (St. Johns is the BEST) and I took the opportunity to be the monster. Some of you might not know I’m a monster, but I am.

Red pozole and goat-milk dulce de leche ice cream in a Mexican diner in Chicago. Also had a reposado cocktail with muddled fresh cherries and jalapeño syrup. I still dream about it.

Ocean frens. Depoe Bay, OR.

A dead crab on wet sand. It’s dusky purple and cream and tan, and about 6” across.

A grey hump-backed crustacean in my hand. It’s about 1.5”, and you can see some pedipalp thingies sticking out.

A red and purple-speckled starfish in my hand, about 5” across.

A dead shrimp in the sand. It’s very detailed, lighter than the sand with sand-colored speckles.

I did the most Portland thing ever and rented an alpaca for Henry’s fourth birthday. It was fucken RAD. He was a total sweetheart of an animal.
