Just in case you're wondering what the hell is going on with Mitch McConnell, he's basically a vegetable flea yo China 3 days after he received CPR after an apparent heart attack there's no one with power of attorney to pull the plug or give up his seat. This is likely by design because if the seat were vacated before August 3rd the election would become a special election which would allow Thomas Massie to run as Independent and potentially win.

The trump administration has denied federal protections for the monarch butterfly. They have also rolled back EPA protections for the environment, which will affect the health of both pollinators and people.

The monarch butterfly is an indicator species, which helps scientists to see how well or unwell pollinators are surviving. No pollinators = no food.

The trump administration has authorized the use of cyanide bombs to kill off animals on public lands.

1964 is not that long ago. Most of the oligarchs were born long before then. They were alive when this went into effect. They decided that poor people & women shouldn't be allowed to have a voice b/c it didn'tfavor them. They are ACTIVELY trying to repeal laws that are written into the Constitution.

Requiring people to pay $165 for a passport in order to vote sounds a lot like a poll tax that was eliminated by the 24th Amendment in 1964.

Amendment I

Amendment VI

The tournament will be horrific. Many fans from Latin American countries will be stopped at the border, and outside the stadiums, ICE will be working overtime to arrest any Latino who wants to attend a match involving a South American country. Trump, who has naturally placed himself in charge of the World Cup task force, will dust off Goebbels's old propaganda plans and Riefenstahl's scenarios to show the world what a great, God-sent leader he is. Everyone in attendance, from footballers to fans and from officials to dignitaries, will become part of this unsavory personality cult.

I love football, but I still ask you, the government and the KNVB (Royal Dutch Football Association), to boycott this tournament. One Hitler tournament was enough.

At what point do we (the Dutch government, the KNVB, individual players) decide not to go to the Trump World Cup? What escalation of the fascist and usurpatory regime is necessary to reach such a decision?

Everyone knows how horrific the situation in the United States already is. Heavily armed paramilitaries wearing masks are conducting raids on American streets, searching for people of color. They raid daycare centers, hospitals, factories, and homes, and violently drag men, women, and children across the street into their black vans to be taken away to detention centers.

ICE wants to arrest undocumented immigrants (for whom such a violent approach is obviously also unacceptable), but it also throws American citizens into its vans. Bystanders who protest or film the ICE agents can also expect violence. The tragic nadir was the murder of innocent Rene Nicole Good.

"If Trump can create the impression that citizens are rebellious and dangerous, he can declare a national emergency and send in the Federal army."

The anger over this murder is sparking widespread protests in Minneapolis and other Democratic cities and states. In response, Trump is sending even more ICE agents and the National Guard to these "insurgent areas." According to Berkley professor and former cabinet minister Robert Reich, this is part of a plan: if Trump can create the impression that citizens are rebellious and dangerous, he can ultimately declare the Insurrection Act (a kind of emergency) and deploy federal troops to the so-called insurgent areas. He would then seize power in the Democratic areas, effectively ruining the midterm elections, where the Republicans are performing poorly.

If that happens, will we boycott the World Cup?

Trump recently invaded Venezuela and kidnapped the president. The rule of law means nothing to him. Trump, as he himself says, is "only held back by his own morality." So we shouldn't expect much from him. Trump previously threatened to invade fellow World Cup hosts Mexico and Canada (would the tournament even go ahead if that happened?), and now he's been threatening to attack and annex Greenland for some time. Do we want to play football in a country that threatens our ally, or do we blithely laugh off the threats?
