International Cat Day and Caturday? Here is Fidget being the babiest of babies. To cut his nails, we distract him with beef baby food. He grabbed the pouch and, well, baby!
Husband and I finally finished this no-glue 3d model of the space shuttle! (We started it at Christmas 😅)
Here’s a fun tail fact about Tinker. His has stronger muscles than the average cat. When he does happy tail up, it curves over his back (📸1). Sometimes even touches it! Annoyed tail looks like tail up (📸2). It’s never quite at the right height or angle for what he’s saying. Miscommunications abound!
All those borrowed spoons finally caught up to me—which I do not have the time to replenish, but now have to make it. Even my skin hurts. Did not sleep last night because every position resulted in some sort of pain. Managed to fall asleep around 9am. And now…mushy brain. #fibromyalgia #ChronicPain
In addition to staring into the middle distance, Tinker prefers a “no thoughts, only blep” approach to solving that problem.
One of those weeks where a million things are poking my cPTSD/anxiety, fibromyalgia is fraying all my nerves, and I’m missing my little bestie, Pharnsworth 🌈, who would have tried to help me regulate through it all. My other cats are great, but not as emotionally intelligent or patient as he was. 💕🐾
Tinker was busy napping in a warming bed today because he is basically a desert cat 😂
Even though it’s #Caturday, Fidget was helping others all day. He pressed BIRD-FOOD on his button board to tell me the bird feeder was empty. (Didn’t talk about food again after I refilled it.) He also cuddled with me while I slept off a fibromyalgia flare. So did Sploot! Great catting today boys!
Sploot wants to remind everyone that even though it’s #Caturday, it’s good to chill out and take care of your friends if they aren’t up to shenanigans today. Thanks Sploot!
No advice to give, just solidarity. Maybe if you can get all the cats resting on your legs, purring? 🙃
Sun’s out! Fun’s out! Or is it sun’s out, tongue’s out? #Caturday
For #Caturday, Fidget shows off his high-speed chasing skills! (Cat wheel courtesy of his rescue because he was the only cat who’d ever used it 😂) Alt: a small mostly black tuxedo cat runs inside a large exercise wheel. He’s chasing a feather wand toy that he eventually catches and carries off.
Ok, Sploot must’ve heard about this thread because he decided to get in Fidget’s box today. No chewing on it, but he looks very guilty at getting caught. When brother is away, other brother will trespass in his box!
We know better than to mess with Fidget’s box/nest full of brown papers. He gets the papers changed out periodically, but he’s had the same box for half a year. Even his box-chewing brother knows not to gnaw on it—and he gnaws on ANYTHING cardboard.
Caturday milestone! Fidget (tux) used 2 buttons in a novel way to say what he didn’t have words for. Sploot (tabby) did a VERY smelly poop. Fidget started to ask for snacks, stopped, then deliberately pressed POOP HUG. I.e. poop smell is hugging (surrounding?) us? He wasn’t wrong! 😂💀 #FluentPet
My cats have been obsessed with this new “loud water” I’ve brought home. First time they’ve encountered fizzy water, as far as I know. Fidget especially sits and stares at it like it’s enlightening him on how to commit future crimes. May need to get him a tinfoil hat… #Caturday
Happy Caturday! Here is a look at Sploot’s Maybelline-worthy eyelashes!
Another Caturday post! The fruits of my cat-nail harvest. All 3 cats trimmed. They were needles! The trick to trimming without incident is one person trims with the cat on their lap and another person uses a pouch of beef stew baby food as a lick treat. They only get it for nail trims. They line up!
Haven’t done a Caturday post in a while. Life has gotten complicated. BUT we had our FIRST moment of all 3 cats in a cuddle puddle so I am taking the win! Sploot is always the social bridge for Tinker and Fidget, who plays too hard with the old man. See alt text for more details about their dynamic.
This little man shouts directly into our faces and stomps on our bodies to wake us up. He used to wait until we got up. The time changed but his internal clock did not.
Here are some sleepy kitties and some beautiful lake photos, one with bonus geese.
It’s my first night away since we got Fidget and Sploot. (Writing retreat.) When I texted home, husband told me Fidget has already been using his speech buttons to ask for me and he’s had to tell him “S.R. home later later later.” And oh my heart 🥰
Not feeling so great today. While I rest and catch up on some reading, Fidget used his buttons to ask for birds. Lately that means watching birds on an old iPad. We all have our hobbies! 😂
It’s a Caturday miracle!! Sploot and Tinker are having their first wash and cuddle! Grandpa Tinker still gets full use of the orthopedic warming bed though. 😂
Here is a large cat awkwardly laying with legs up, toe beans out, in a small bed, reminding you to eat, drink some water, cuddle your loved ones, and get some rest.
Remembering Pharnsworth on his gotcha day—first one without him. He was the best cat and such an emotional support. Always took care of me when my fibromyalgia flared. I miss him everyday, even a year later. When I whispered this to him, he’d purr and knead so hard: “Pharnsworth, Sarah, besties.” 🌈
One day, Sploot will catch the wily “bug” that keeps making waves in the drinking fountain. So far he’s tried batting the water, pushing water into the water intake, sneaking up on the fountain when it’s running, and now exploring what’s happening behind the fountain. #Caturday (alt text +)
Gave Fidget a “bird” button to talk about birds he sees outside. Instead, he uses it to ask for birds on cat TV videos. When we watch TV, he also presses it. I’m pretty sure he now thinks watching TV is just called birds. 😅 I’m rolling with it and calling the difference his birds and our birds. 🤷♀️
