I'm a crossword fan. I do these Vox crosswords almost every day, as well as a few others occasionally (Daily Beast's, Slate's, etc.). This is the fastest I've ever done one. I'd only broken the 3-minute mark on a Vox one a few times previously, never under 2 before!
Today I’m at a birthday party for a fellow musician named Floyd who is 100 years young. He used to play Guitar & Violin but these days it’s mostly Piano or Organ. He’s very good & a true gentleman as well!
I bought the 2x chrome covers online & was accidentally sent 2x black ones. They re-sent chrome ones & told me to keep the black ones, for which I have no use. They're not "brushed" but not too glossy. If we were in the same area I'd totally give these away for free, but I'm guessing we're not...
Pickup covers, maybe? A guy I was in a band with in H.S. bought a cream-colored, open-coil Dimarzio PAF in 1979 & gave it to me a year or 2 later. I never liked the look & eventually put a solid chrome cover on it (recently installed in neck slot on Guitar in photo). Solid black is an option too...
Update: Insanity! I found that it has some fairly crappy parts. Don't have any good pots right now but at least I'm going to swap out the substandard jack for the Pure Tone 3-point jack (foreground, in bag) that I found among my things. I'm doing this work because the bridge pickup was failing.
The temperature here just dropped 20 degrees (F) in a span of around 3 hours & it's gonna keep falling. Also...

I'm sure this is no big deal, just a flock of Robins eating Juniper berries. But I've never seen this many Robins in one place before. And they keep coming! It feels like the prelude to something Hitchcockian...

The Strat has Lace Alumitones, right? I put one of those in my 8-string standup Steel Guitar & just absolutely love it. Incredible design, great-sounding pickup. It even works better w/ the volume & tone pots than the previous P90-style pickup did. And it was a perfect fit too:
There's a rabbit that has been hanging out in my yard recently. His camouflage, for this time of year, is really quite good. He's only maybe 5 meters from the back door here, but even in person I have to look closely before letting the dog go out (he'll chase the rabbit right off).
I was racking up a few pieces just last night w/ my brother. Nothing tube-based in this stack (not quite that old) but the Otari 1/4" 4-track on the bottom is more than 40 years old. The other 2 recorders (8-track & DAT) & the top compressor are 30+ years. All still in working order!
Generally if you have a Dog in the house the local rabbits DON'T knock at the back door & ask to come in & make their rabbit selves at home. Especially not if the Dog in question is a Rat Terrier. But alas... Our Dog has more other more urgent business, apparently.
I have one of those Lawrence pickups stuck to the face of my square-neck resonator. Wire runs through the screen in the small hole to the right, to the butt-end where I mounted a jack (non-end pin; don't like those). Doesn't sound too Dobro-y but actually pretty great through a Guitar amp w/ gain!

I wanted a 12-string a couple years back & went with a Harley Benton from Thomann Music in Germany. I got one of the more "expensive" ones at around $350 USD (w/ gig bag), but the quality is very nice. I made vid this to see if young people I worked with had ever heard this famous 12-string tune:
Rainy, gloomy morning here. When I was a kid I'd become mesmerized by rain, often caught staring out the window in grammar school classes. To this day I find it calming & often watch YouTubes of people walking in the rain from various parts of the world whenever I'm stressed. #gloom
Rat Terriers were bred in America based on Manchester Terriers from England, Beagles, Chihuahuas, Italian Greyhounds and/or Whippets. Basil tends to take after Iggys the most, but he's got a strong terrier streak. Their "job" is to deal with rodents but he's apparently not much of a "worker bee"...
