“C'era una corrente di pensiero tra i conservatori americani che sosteneva che Trump stesse attuando una grande strategia anti-cinese di cui gli scettici si rifiutavano di riconoscere la genialità ma ora non si sente più parlare di queste cose".
If you want a sense of how nutty this is, they couldn’t get Zucman to sign on

The annual State of the Capital Region report is out—not a very optimistic one this time. Leah Brooks, Paul Carrillo, and Ferdinando Monte, and I provide a look at the labor and housing market impact of the Trump shock to federal employment. www.centerforwashingtonareastudies.org/state_of_the...

Simon Johnson and I have a new article out at @thedispatchmedia.bsky.social, explaining why Section 122 does not authorize the administration's latest round of worldwide tariffs. thedispatch.com/article/trum...
Bizarre stuff from the tankies over at Breitbart, who believe TPS is bad because it (also) benefits the capitalist roaders
The brief provides an overview of the overwhelmingly negative economic consequences of terminating TPS for most or even all beneficiaries.
I was pleased to join a distinguished group of economists in signing on to an amicus brief organized by @mclem.org in Mullin v. Doe and Trump v. Miot, the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) cases currently before the Supreme Court.
I had the privilege of organizing economist amicus briefs in support of the parties challenging the administration’s most recent round of worldwide tariffs. The cases are Burlap and Barrel, Inc. v. Trump. and Oregon et al. v. Trump, both before the U.S. Court of International Trade.
Here is a brand new working paper by Jeff Clemens, Phil Hoxie, and me, "Intergovernmental Grants to School Districts and Educational Outcomes During the COVID-19 Pandemic." www.aei.org/research-pro...
There are so many papers with spatial variation that looks the same (the old Confederacy and Native reservations have bad outcomes), and every set of authors presents a completely ahistorical narrative around their favorite culprit.
