Les catastrophes ne produisent pas automatiquement du changement. Elles peuvent tout autant nourrir le déni, le repli ou l'autoritarisme. C'est précisément pourquoi elles sont désormais des objets de lutte politique. Les catastrophes sont politiques.
Mais si la mutation climatique nous fait entrer dans une dystopie, comment en sortir? Comment construire une capacité d'agir? En fin de livre nous proposons 9 impératifs pour l'action. L'un d'eux est de préparer les catastrophes à venir, dans un double sens : s'y adapter, mais aussi les politiser.

He said: We have no party headquarters and no money — but we have the support of the streets.
🇹🇷📢 This is now far more than a political crisis — it's a struggle for democracy & freedom. People are taking to the streets in Istanbul and Ankara despite repression. Power exists only as long as people believe in it. The coming days will show how many still believe in the power of this regime.

This book is an attempt to make sense of the historical moment of interlocking crises we are living through, but also to provide resources for action: to become, in its own way, a handbook for rebuilding agency in turbulent times. Whether we succeeded is for readers to decide.
After 4 years of work on this book — countless hours of discussion, endless rewritings — and after 20 years of collaboration with Amy Dahan, first as her PhD student and later as co-authors, it is finally here: yesterday we presented La Mutation Climatique at the Sciences Po bookstore in Paris.
This framework was developed in the context of the Hamburg Excellence Cluster CLICCS. We illustrate it by zooming in on two drivers: transnational climate litigation and global climate governance. Both show how new arenas, norms and institutions generate novel opportunities for climate action.
What is *climate agency*? Much of the climate debate focuses on technologies and policies. But decarbonization is ultimately driven by societies - by actors mobilizing ideas, institutions, means of contestation and legal tools to shape climate futures.
La Mutation Climatique est née de cette décennie de bouleversements - et de quinze ans de dialogue intellectuel et amical avec Amy Dahan, mon ancienne directrice de thèse. L’objectif du livre : remettre le climat au centre des grands enjeux de notre temps. Rendez-vous le 20 mars.
Il y a plus de dix ans, juste avant la COP21 à Paris, nous avions publié Gouverner le climat, un livre déjà critique des négociations climatiques, mais aussi chargé d’espoir avant une conférence annoncée comme décisive. À l'époque, nous appelions à désenclaver et politiser le problème climatique.

As Pier Paolo #Pasolini warned in the 1970s, fascism doesn't argue or persuade. It stages itself. Domination is not justified, it is displayed. Violence as spectacle. Power becomes obscene display - a pornography of domination.
Is the #Maduro abduction really a “war for oil”, as many seem to believe? Unlikely. Venezuelan oil is low-quality, infrastructure-heavy, slow to exploit, in an already oversupplied market. Is it about democracy? Obviously not. What remains is the pornography of fascist power. I can do what I want.
