How beautiful is the last glow of sunset at the #BeaufortHotel in Beaufort, NC? We took a little weekend trip and had a great time! It was SO dog friendly! And the food was so good! Because it's outside of town it's so peaceful and romantic! I highly recommend going!

The sky is midnight blue in the upper left and turns to light blue across the top with just the faintest pinks and purples far in the center distance. A white fishing boat sits at the dock and to the right is the side and back veranda of the Beaufort Hotel of Beaufort, NC; where guests and diners at the restaurant enjoy the last rays of light as a light breeze welcomes the night. I'm about to go sit in one of the rocking chairs. There is a wooden boat dock in the foreground where you can sail up and tie off your boat, if you're lucky enough to live that life.

This clickbait article freaking out about cocaine drops is just fundamentally misunderstanding what cocaine does/is. It's a vasoconstricter - it reduces blood flow creating numbness through loss of blood flow to tissues. That's why a lot is bad. A little works great.

My current read is Hardcore Happiness by Reid Chancellor a great graphic non fiction work about his mental health journey and punk rock history. It was hard to put it down long enough to write this, it's really engaging so far! Punk rock has always been my happy place, so I really like this.

I finally finished 'Sacré Bleu' - a story whose main character runs a bakery and is a painter in Paris, France In the first half of the book I found out I had a profound wheat allergy, while I feel much better, it imbued the second half of the novel with a certain personal poignance.

Book 6 is finished! I liked Encountering Kali better than I thought I would- Sarah Caldwell's essay 'Margins at the Center' was an absolute banger, I guess Harvard still has some talent, after all. Next up: more blue women with Sacre Bleu by @theauthorguy.bsky.social! What are you reading?

The cover features the title and a painting of Kali commissioned for the book, she is blue, wearing a necklace of skulls, her tongue is out, and she is dancing. On the right is the book Sacre Bleu by Christopher Moore. The cover also features a blue woman, but this one is not adorned with skulls and appendages and is instead of the smoking hot variety. She lounges nude on an artists palette with an absolutely unreasonable amount of hair, it must be a real bitch to brush out.

I thought, "How fun would it be to get some Bailey's for the snow storm?!" But I forgot so I asked my ex if he could grab some for me - I now have enough Bailey's for forever! He must have grabbed the LARGEST bottle they have - so yeah, come hang...

Book #6 for the year, and I don't know why I do this to myself. It's from a University Press so while the topic is interesting, the book probably isn't. I guess I'm going to find out.

Happy 3 year anniversary of my neighbor's dog FLIPPING ME OFF because I wouldn't let my dog put to play with him! 🤣

A garden glove chewed into a middle finger and left in front of my door exactly upright facing me flipping me off as I walked outside. One of the fingers he chewed off is to the lower left of the glove. The dog chewed off every finger except the middle amd the thumb. I really admire that dog, that's a smart pupper.

Book 5 of the year - I'm nursing it it's so good! Dashiell Hammett is one of the best, and The Continental Op is a brilliant protagonist with a mess dame by his side. I love it. I absolutely love it.

Book #4 and folks - I hate this. The art isn't good is the nicest thing I can say. The writing is godawful. It's so cringe. I deeply regret picking it up. I'm going to finish it, I always finish them - but I'm going to hate every moment. This might be my least favorite book ever.

The graphic novel (?) jinx by brian michael bendis (author's lack of capitalization). The cover is red and black and features a girl (woman?) holding a gun. Don't read it.

Beginning book #2 of the new year - you can't go wrong with Terry Pratchett! And - yep I got it new! Fancy fancy! (The closest shop is new and second hand and they have some great second hand books!)

TIL that the roly-poly (aka fat pig, cheese log, cheesy pig, armadillo bug, sow bug, potato bug, wood bug, wood pig, hog-louse,carpenter bug, and it's actual name woodlouse) are crustaceans! Like shrimp or lobster! The only insect I don't find icky and it's not even an insect!!

The frame is divided into 4 pictures in a grid. The upper left is a roly-poly (or pill bug/fat pig/cheesy pig/ sow bug etc) rolled into a ball, it does it for protection or to conserve moisture. The bug has sections like an armadillo and is black with brown areas almost like veins across the shell. In the upper right is another type of woodlouse, it is more yellow and has 2 body segments, the last of them tapers to two brown points. Bottom left there is a white woodlouse, and bottom right a woodlouse ambulating with it's many legs.
