Travelling around the world by train, showcasing the best of what railways have to offer! I make videos on YouTube:
NEW VIDEO! Today we're trying out the new international low-cost train from Brussels to Paris, riding the Ouigo Train Classique - finally a cheaper alternative to the Eurostar! 👀 WATCH: youtu.be/P1N1iRER_iI
NEW VIDEO! Let's head to Thailand to ride another British train abroad - the Class 158 on the Special Express from Bangkok to Pattaya. And there are quite a lot of differences compared to the UK variant! 😂 WATCH: youtu.be/K8xGnwWm9OU
NEW VIDEO! Tonight we take on an exciting journey aboard Hungary's 40 year old sleeper trains, as I travel on this communist-era carriage on the 15 hour journey from Rijeka to Budapest! WATCH: youtu.be/0pfWEPSpTWY
Koleje Śląskie... in WARSAW? One of the KŚ 14WE units paid a visit to the capital today, and I captured it running empty through Warszawa Centralna. These heavy EN57 rebuilds actually used to operate here and indeed the Warsaw SKM logo was still visible all over the interior. 😁
NEW VIDEO! Today we're taking a look at Brightline Florida, in their Premium Class, a modern and exciting high-speed train in the USA running from Orlando to Miami. 🇺🇸 WATCH: youtu.be/SIUElo6r-Pc
A new loco on the scene, with České Dráhy now sending its high-speed ČD 384 Vectron locomotives to Poland, capable of 230km/h! I really love the 'barcode' livery on these modern machines, it really makes them stand out as the faster variant of their growing Vectron fleet. 😍
NEW VIDEO! A bizarre journey through Poland, involving a UK Class 66 of Freightliner speeding through the countryside and even running down the street, on a special Turkol charter train... WATCH: youtu.be/-mvIRvzsnOE
And now for the return journey, after a great afternoon in Kołobrzeg. Time to enjoy the sunset in the retro WARS bar carriage as we head towards Poznań - there's definitely room for a few beers, too! 😅
CLASS 66 RUNNING DOWN THE STREET! 😃 After a reversal in Kołobrzeg, our four carriage train continues along the roads, as it makes its way through the town to Kołobrzeg Port - a truly unique experience.
After a break in Piła, we're continuing north, arriving in Kołobrzeg after a long and enjoyable 6.5hr ride through Western Poland. 😃 Note how the carriages are so much larger than the Class 66, a clear indicator of this train's past life in the UK...
Heading north from Poznań, behind a Freightliner Class 66. Today will be very interesting, thanks to this extremely rare cargo locomotive and an usual railway line later on... 👀
The legendary Freightliner Class 66, seen at Poznań Główny hauling a rake of six carriages from Kołobrzeg. It's a truly wonderful sight! 😍
While in Poznań, I managed to completely forget about the regularly scheduled steam services... Luckily, I was just in time and managed a ride on Pt47-65, paying just €3 for a 40 minute trip. What a great experience! 😍
Now onwards to Poznań, along the east-west mainline, on EIC Krzywousty! I have to say, this EIC carriage looks identical to the ones I often use on subsidised TLK/IC trains... Still, at least there's time for a cup of tea in the restaurant. 😃
Now back to Warsaw this morning aboard an IC train, departing from the depressing Łódź Widzew, and arriving at the splendid Warszawa Zachodnia station. 🤔
And after a good evening in Pabianice, it's back to Łódź aboard Polregio's heavily modernised EN57AL, with some sort of glass prison (maybe for evil passengers lol). 😂
First time travelling with ŁKA today, on one of their 2 car Stadler FLIRTs. It's a one hour journey to Pabianice, despite being only 15km away, as we take a circuituous route stopping at many stations in Łódź...
After a pleasant 3hr ride to the capital, I swap to an IC train heading west, calling at the wonderful Żyrardów station. Onwards to Łódź Fabryczna! ⚡️
Now heading to Warsaw aboard a TLK train via the CMK route, hauled by the 0.5 year old EU160-090. Due to increased demand, an extra three carriages have been added, providing 240 more seats than usual, the benefits of using flexible loco-hauled trains! 😍
With all the hype around the Baku-Tbilisi night train finally relaunching, let's take a look back to one of the last ever runs from February 2020, featuring a modern Alstom Prima locomotive with sleeping carriages typical of the region at the time.
Arrival in Wrocław, where our train gains another 5 carriages, making it a whopping 12 carriages! And sadly, the faster locomotive we need is not added to the train, so we'll be getting later and later the further east we go... that calls for an at-seat meal I think! 😅
And now, from Zielona Góra to Kraków, aboard a classic IC train. Unfortunately, the planned Peter locomotive was not available, meaning a slower and weaker EP07 will be completing the trip this fine evening... 🤔
Though what I don't like is the over-provision of cycle spaces, with two of the four carriages featuring these massive cycle areas, and around 30 regular seats for those doing longer trips...
Now to continue toward Zielona Góra, aboard a modern Polregio unit, this time a 31WEbb built in 2024. I really love the interior design of these Newag Impuls 2 units, it feels futuristic while maintaining a warm, welcoming ambience. It's comfortable for regional trips like this!
Our journey through the rural regions continues, as we pass the major junction of Piła Główna, and the riverside walkway in Gorzów Wielkopolski. We finally make it to Kostrzyn a few minutes early, right on the German border. 😁
Oops, that's never a good sign! 😳 Somebody placed rocks on the track, which has messed with our train's brakes, requiring an inspection. Luckily, after a ten minute wait in this picturesque field, we're back on the move!
Time to head back south, but this time with a crazy route! First, I'll be riding to Kostrzyn, which is over six hours behind this diesel shunter locomotive, riding through small towns in northeastern Poland... glad to have opening windows to enjoy the view this morning! 😍
And now back to Gdynia, riding in a carriage hauled by a unit! 👀 Obviously, I will be travelling in the hauled carriage, it's quieter, more comfortable, and has opening windows - a must in heat like this, as aircon on these units never seems to work properly.
Made it to Gdynia, already some three hours through the journey. This train is known for extreme temperatures and severe overcrowding, but it seems that I'm lucky today, as it's actually almost empty. And, what's going on in the last picture... 👀
Today I'm travelling on one of Polregio's most legendary trains, the Chojnice to Hel service, taking a whopping 5.5hr! And best of all, this is one of the few trains still formed of these ancient fresh-air double-deck carriages hauled by a noisy SU42, let's see how it goes... 😅
