Northern. Generalised wandering, nature, botany, birds. May also bang on about Castlefield Corridor without warning.
Lovely summer evening trip up the hill tonight. 😂 Not complaining too hard, the moors could do with a good dousing at the moment.
Look at my lovely, clean, shiny new boots! 💙 Though obviously, I've completely anthropomorphised the old ones and now I'm so guilty about replacing them. 😥
Ai Waiwei, Button Up at The Factory. Dark, dramatic and monumental. Amazing.
Been to sunny Manc*. People lounging about outside on the banks of the Irwell on rounded pebble shaped seats. My Mum "it's gone all continental". *Borderlands, I know, almost Salford. Was on the Manc side to take the photo.
Angle Tarn. Had a little paddle, wished I'd brought me cossie. Though later I (unintentionally) threw my hat in Rossett Gill, then (unintentionally) fell in retrieving it, so that was also quite refreshing. 😂
View off the end of Great End. I liked Great End. Lovely bit of hill. 10/10, would climb again.
Enchanter's nightshade (circaea lutetiana), (not actually a nightshade) for #wildflowerhour Growing in (enjoying the shade of) woodland in West Lancashire, wafting in a hot breeze.
Bit of a left field one for you today, @lakesstiles.bsky.social Stile to a Secret Green Box, in its own tiny field. No, I don't know either. 😁
Need to cool off on a hot day? Could I interest you in the Lancashire Hot Tub experience? Need to trek through a slightly sheepy field to get there, but the views are immense. 😁
Out when it's slightly cooler, rewarded by nice light and a good handful of horsefly bites. 😬
Going to suggest that we need a head office that's close to Andy's new No 10 North. Or maybe one in Greenland.
Been up the Usual Medium Sized Monday Night Hill, not the Summer Special Monday Night Hill. I've missed it, in all it's medium sized glory. 💚
That stray bit of the Peak District that lives in Oldham looking proper moody. 💚
Bit of Clough Porn from Dove Stone, if you like that sort of thing. 😁
Bell heather (erica cinerea), out well before the ling up at Dove Stone Moss. Lovely and vibrant on a grey day. #wildflowerhour
Bit of bog asphodel (narthecium ossifragum) for #wildflowerhour By Greenfield Brook, down at Dove Stone, Oldham way. Dipper on the rocks as well, but that moved too quick for a photo.😁
Neat bit of stone step squeeze style stile for @lakesstiles.bsky.social Top of Pendle, hence the discarded bags, as water was passed and midges swiped.
A #wildflowerhour variety. Marsh woundwort, tufted (?) vetch, yellow water lily, bramble and a yellow vetch to the left I wasn't close enough to be able to see properly. On the bank of the Leeds Liverpool Canal in West Lancs.
A belated aquatic entry for #wildflowerhor. Common Arrowhead (Sagittaria sagittifolia), wonky photo taken from the kayak, Leeds Liverpool Canal in West Lancashire today.
We almost kayaked straight past this heron without noticing, he was so still and poised.
Right, that's quite enough of *outside* now. Mum offered me a glass of lemonade, rather than a cup of tea. Truly, it is the apocalypse.
Fresh, shiny witches for #FingerpostFriday Get your fresh shiny witches here! (Or by going left or right, as instructed).
Went up the hill to see if it was cooler on the top. It was! Lovely breeze, curlews, snipe, pipits, kestrels and a lone oystercatcher guarding the reservoir at the bottom. 💚
Melilot being gloriously tall and yellow, from a west Lancashire rough verge for #wildflowerhour
Been over to sunny Ramsbottom for dinner with friends. Actually was sunny, cracking drive back o'er the moors.
