What's most awful about the Carney era is the way LPC partisans are now convinced that simply saying the word "pragmatism" means that Maple MAGA's worst unethical policies are actually great leadership now, as long as they get served up by someone with the colour red on their campaign signs. 1/

Let's take a look at this graphic again. Apparently, reducing emissions is so completely unaffordable that Canada is somehow the *only* country - the 11th richest nation in the world, remember - that couldn't possibly afford to do it? Says our ... (checks notes) "genius economist" PM? 11/

Somehow, reducing their emissions wasn't "too expensive" for any other G7 nation, so Canada's PM is basically trying to convince us that what works everywhere else in the global economy couldn't ever possibly work in Canada because, um, well, just because he says so while announcing another gigantic public handout for a mega-rich polluting industry.

Every single time I've pointed out bad climate policy from the Carney government a bunch of pissed off Carney supporters have angrily insisted that he's just outmaneuvering Danielle Smith in ways I was too thick to understand. His betrayal of the climate is on full and complete display now.

Carney legislation repeatedly declares that cabinet can authorize legal exemptions for corporations/major projects for economic reasons. It makes the economy 100% paramount: not just an important thing, but the only thing, to our collective detriment. Inconveniencing oligarchs will not be tolerated.

Carney is not positioning Canada as a force for good. He is repeatedly and consistently supporting war crimes by the worst international criminals. He is racing to worsen the global climate crisis as rapidly as possible. He is repeatedly attacking human rights. The opposite of "a force for good."
