Max. FYI here is a table of stop spacings on 501 Queen. I built this from the GTFS schedule that is now in effect. Two spacings are shown: between adjacent stops, and between stops two apart showing the effect of removing one in between.
The intersection at Lower Simcoe was rebuilt in the "new" configuration proposed for QQ East. Although one might argue for refuge on the north side of the tracks, QQ is nowhere near the width of Spadina. Just how many refuge areas are actually needed anyhow? April 2026 view below looking E and W.
But when track maintenance is crap, the issue isn't blade count. Here are two photos from King & Church in April 2024 before reconstruction.
From the Mar 11 Audit & Risk Management agenda is management's response to the UITP review including this text re streetcar switches.
Normally I don't give the trolls on my site the time of day, but I do save all of their comments. These came in recently and show just how pro transit they (possibly all the same person) are. The idea that I should "resign" is particularly amusing, or that I am responsible for Metrolinx' debacle.
The Rosedale bus crosses the Glen Road bridge with valley mist lit by the setting sun.
Here is the tracking chart from transsee.ca. Four buses running in a pack for the entire PM peak and into the early evening.
At noon today (June 7), the TTC issued a service alert re traffic congestion delaying service over the entire 7 Bathurst bus route. Just before 1:30 the notice was cleared. What was actually happening? Here is the tracking chart from transsee.ca. (1)
Here are the operating charts for the 29 local and 929 express services this morning from transsee.ca They show bunching and some wide gaps. Traffic congestion is notable north of Eglinton where priority is not proposed.
TTC is conducting a rider satisfaction survey which has a streetcar, bus and subway thread. Pervasively in the streetcar survey, the term "steercar" is used. Hmmm. Cattle cars for TTC passengers? Shows how carefully someone edited this. I must cross post this in the other place as TTC isn't here,
Spring comes to Rosedale. The Glen Road Bridge and the Rosedale bus.
A few hours later, with the sun up, the same work train. The car on the left is specially designed for replacing bridge beams with a travelling crane that straddles the work zone.
Here is 510 Spadina from noon to 9pm today Apr 2. Packs of cars running together with little effort to spread out the gap.
Service chart from TransSee shows that a group of cars has run back and forth as a pack since before noon. 506 Carlton is supposed to be one of the routes with new improved line management.
