Well folks, here's hoping my relative's home & my family cottage in Mooseland don't burn to the ground overnight. I have some opinions about the handling of communications in this situation because that area has basically no cell service whatsoever. The evacuation should have been called much sooner
First #Kidicalmasshfx ride of the 2026 season! Also my first ever time marshalling for a ride. Every time I join a group ride in the city I am reminded how lovely of a community we have here in Halifax. It was really neat to see the @hfxgov.bsky.social bike lane sweeper in action too! #Bikehfx
First Dairy Bar of the season! The London Fog flavour was very tasty, highly recommend
Need a little repair advice from #bikehfx - nabbed this from the side of the street leftovers of uni move-out/in yesterday! Its in pretty great shape, other than the back brake pads being too close to the wheel. What pieces of this should I be loosening/tightening to fix the back brake pads?
Looking for another event to attend after Scritchy's service? Come check out my @hfxrise.bsky.social cohort's culminating event! (In the community room attached to the new pool building on the Commons) Free food! Community involvement opportunities! And a whole lot of cool prizes from local orgs
Fitting timing for me to have finally framed my interview with @thechronicleherald.bsky.social & my mention in @grandparade.bsky.social for my participation in Halifax's budget debates on the day of its ratification. I never dreamed I would be this invested in municipal politics, but here we are!
Amazing turnout for the Arts, Culture & Heritage Rally in Halifax today! The NS Choral Federation wrote a new rendition of "Farewell to Nova Scotia" for the crowd to sing along with
Thank you to @timbousquet.bsky.social for including my commentary on the NS budget cuts in today's Morning File of the @halifaxexaminer.ca! I desperately hope some of the proposed cuts are reversed before the budget passes
Know a nerdy teenager in your life? How would they like to trial run university this summer? Applications are now open for King's Humanities For Young People program! I did HYP in 2019 & it directly led to me being a Kings's student! ukings.ca/programs/non...
Pretty cool to see my own name in print! Thank you to @antonihfx.bsky.social & Giancarlos Cininni for the shout out
My understanding of the process is you have to email clerks@halifax.ca with a simple statement of 'I wish to speak at the public participation' & provide your name and community of residence at least 24hrs before the meeting. This link below outlines the event as starting at 6pm on Tues Jan 27th!
We had a lovely event with the Dal/Kings Bike Society educating students on the municipal budget process this evening! Massive thanks to @lecwhite.bsky.social for coming out to talk with us. Folks walked away energized to participate in making our city the type of community they want to live in!
A little bit of light reading prep for my speaking at the HRM Public Participation evening for budget season... wish me luck
For the Gay Hockey pilled locals; 4 copies of The Long Game are in at @kingsbookstore.bsky.social if you wanna read the inspo for S2 before it comes out!
Halifax-Catch this doc on with Carbon Arc tomorrow if you can make it! My first time checking Carbon Arc out & I'll for sure be back. Incredibly well done documentary on the harsh challenges & realities facing library staff in public schools across America #Halisky www.carbonarc.ca/events/the-l...
Had a blast at the Halloween Bike Party & Critical Mass ride tonight! All the passerby seem to have thought our music & costumes were fun. It was lovely to see so many people have a touch of joy brought to their evening. Thanks as always to the organizers & ride marshals! #BikeHFX #CriticalMassHFX
Brilliant satire on at Neptune Theatre for only a few more days! Make sure to catch a ticket if you can, my face hurt from laughing so much. Bear Grease is an incredible piece of indigenous art!
Latest update on Dal's craziness in the lockout - now I can't even access Brightspace pages that profs had set us up access to so we could at least keep up on readings during the strike. I'm sure this won't worsen timelines on getting through all our course materials at all 🙃 #Keepdalstrong
Had a lovely time with #CriticalMassHFX tonight! I got the chance to try out an ebike thanks to @justip.bsky.social & really enjoyed cycling across town with such a welcoming crew of folks (most entertaining part was the tourists delighted by the sight of us during their Harbour Hopper ride)
Can't get more ironic then reading this piece while sitting on a bus during supper rush gridlock on Robie @grandparade.bsky.social
Many thanks to everyone for a lovely experience with my first ever bike ride in Halifax as part of #Kidicalmass this morning! It is very evident that our local cycling community is full of kindness and care. I felt very safe and looked after as a new duckling of the flock!
