Global Law at Reading (GLAR) is one of the leading groups of expert staff researching and teaching global law at any university in the UK. As Reading's research hub for public international law, EU law and human rights law it has a proud international reputation for research excellence in these areas. The series was launched in 2015.
It is named in honour of Professor Sandy Ghandhi, who taught at the School of Law from 1978 to 2013 and remains an emeritus professor at Reading.
Anyone is welcome to attend these seminars, and attendance is free.

A takeaway delivery driver was forced to cancel an order for refugees living behind a police barricade after a booing mob surrounded him.
The Uber Eats rider was given a police escort to try and get to through the protesters guarding the Britannia Hotel in Canary Wharf on Sunday evening.
But the baying mob stood in his way and he was forced to turn back with the Five Guys order.

The Danish Institute for Human Rights and the International Commission of Jurists invite you to the official launch of the Global Policy and Legal Action Project under the Digital Democracy Initiative. The launch is held at the Nobel Peace Center and is hosted by the Norwegian Nobel Institute.
As digital technologies reshape global governance, this high-level event will explore how international law and human rights can be upheld in the digital age. With the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) convening in Norway, this is a timely opportunity to engage with diplomats, legal scholars, and technology experts on the future of digital governance.
Key Questions to Be Debated:
• How can states comply with international law and human rights while competing in Al and emerging technologies?
• What are states' duties to protect against digital rights abuses by businesses?
• What role should international governmental organizations play in technology governance?
How do sovereignty and jurisdiction apply in the digital space?
: What are the extraterritorial obligations of states and private actors in protecting human rights
beyond national boundaries?
• How should the allocation of responsibility for preventing technological harms be applied to states and technology companies?
• Can multistakeholder governance effectively safeguard digital rights?
This event will also reflect on the erosion of legal norms in cyberspace and the urgent need for shared principles, such as those outlined in the European Declaration on Digital Rights and Principles.
