Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! (1 season, 12 eps) While this adaption has noticeably lackluster animation and inconsistent character designs, it more than succeeds in its storytelling and focus on its characters. Both couples are appealing and have good chemistry.
MARRIAGETOXIN (1 season, 13 eps) - S2 January 2027 A great execution of it's concept, thanks in no small part to the charming leads. While most female characters fall into the "love interest" category due to the story's premise, they all feel thoughtfully fleshed out. Gero is husband material.
The Apothecary Diaries (2 seasons, 48 eps) - S3 and Film Q4 2026 An impressively constructed story, blending a large cast of characters with sprawling interwoven plots that frequently took me by surprise. Maomao and Jinshi's dynamic works well as a grounding center when the story gets complicated.
The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter (1 season, 12 eps + 1 ova) The OVA is a fun new addition to the show that allows a stronger focus on the relationship between Seiichirou and Aresh, and broaches the question of how much of a future it realistically has. bsky.app/profile/taig...
Given (1 season, 11 eps + 2 ovas, 3 films) I continue to be baffled by the adaption choices this series makes. Newest (final?) OVA is cute but has no real reason to exist, and doesn't do anything interesting with the characters. It also ends on a really bizarre note. bsky.app/profile/taig...

Witch Hat Atelier (1 season, 13 eps) This series is so incredibly strong in terms of visuals, storytelling, and character writing (especially for child characters). The way magic works is so unique and well thought out, setting itself apart from the others in the genre. Definite recommend.
Fire Force (3 seasons, 73 eps) Despite an embarrassing side tangent where Ohkubo turns his characters into mouthpieces to scold his critics, the world-building and plot threads that have been built up come together in an impressively satisfying way. (Next stop: Soul Eater.) x.com/barjonabombe...
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (1 season, 10 eps) A really well crafted and stylized story that very easily could have widened its scope, but instead stays hyper-focused on the arcs of it's two protagonists. The ending wasn't as satisfying as I wanted, but that was clearly intentional. Incredibly animated.
Go For It, Nakamura-kun!! (1 season, 13 eps) I read and loved the manga close to a decade ago and this adaption more than does it justice, even if it loses the bit of its edge. It's one of the most cathartic and relatable pieces of gay media I've ever seen, and left me wanting more (in a good way).
i will never financially recover from this (lost both the 50/50 and 75/25 on the way to this result, but at least the latter loss was on the first 10 pull) #genshinimpact

The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife (1 season, 12 eps) A really delightful romance series that takes advantage of its fantastical world-building more than I had expected. Refreshingly empathetic, and with characters that are defined just enough to raise it above typical slice-of-life stories.
Golden Kamuy (5 seasons, 62 eps + 5 ovas) - Continuation Winter 2027 While it sometimes struggles to service an ever-expanding supporting cast, this series never misses with it's action set-pieces and balancing it's wildly different tones. (Plus the fanservice is for ME 🤩) x.com/barjonabombe...
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (2 seasons, 38 eps) - S3 October 2027 A stunningly animated show that is at it's best when focusing on it's characters and the more personal circumstances of the people they meet. Tends to stumble more when tackling more ambitious themes (especially with Demons).
Jujutsu Kaisen (3 seasons, 59 eps, 1 film) - S4 Announced This season leans way more into the fighting sequences, which largely works because they're all stunningly animated and still motivated by the characters as much as the plot. Yuji looked cool a lot, which I enjoyed. bsky.app/profile/taig...
The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter (1 season, 12 eps) - OVA May 2026 While this series does have a tendency to fall into cliches - both for the Isekai and Boys Love genres - the novelty of it, as well as a compelling protagonist and solid production value, more than makes up for it.
Tamon's B-Side (1 season, 13 eps) An idol romance story that mostly avoids feeling contrived by not shying away from the power and social dynamics involved. All the characters are very fun and well-rounded, especially the main characters. A must-watch for any fan of shoujo romance or idol culture.
Welcome to the Outcast's Restaurant! (1 season, 12 eps) A series that quickly sidelines it's own gimmick - an adventurer opening a restaurant - and instead becomes a boilerplate anime fantasy about the self-actualization of the (meh) protagonist. Wasn't expecting much from this and got even less.

Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill (2 seasons, 24 eps) A very fun, low stakes isekai that is weirdly satisfying for relying on the same beats almost every episode: Mukohda's familiars defeat some powerful monsters comically easily, and then he makes them some delicious food.
Plus-sized Misadventures in Love! (1 season, 12 eps) A series that is carried by it's charming and unconventional (i.e. fat) protagonist, whom thankfully it treats kinder than you'd expect. It's at it's best when focusing on her and her coworkers... and not the meandering attempted murder subplot.
Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt (2 seasons, 26 eps + 1 ova) A 2nd season 15 years later was not something I expected and I was pleasantly surprised at how much of a home run it was. It feels somewhat updated/modern while still adhering to the raunchiness/2000sness that made the 1st season so good.
