Was this Bloom County ad specially made? I ask because Lawrence, Kansas' nickname is "Larryville" and the ad references the "Larryville Follies". If so, did Berekely Breathed come up with little jokes for each ad ("Curlyville", "Moeville")? Or is it just a coincidence?

Today is the 90th anniversary of the classic Merrie Melodies short "I Love to Singa". Directed by Tex Avery with animation by Chuck Jones and Virgil Ross, this short features a little owl who is forced to sing the classics when all he wants to do is be a crooner. cartoonresearch.com/index.php/th...

This handkerchief box sits in the master bedroom in the mansion. It clearly has been used extensively. There are other matching boxes as well, but they are not labeled like this one is.

YOU CAN ALREADY VOTE FOR OR AGAINST THEM!!! If you can't "evaluate" their "judicial records" every 6 years, that's on you! The only reason we are even talking about changing it is because Kansas Republicans are butt-hurt because they only have one judge on the bench.

Why does the White House need signage? It's a private residence, not an events center, and access is restricted.

The Ward-Meade Mansion was built between 1870 and 1874 with both stone and a material gaining popularity in Topeka, Kansas called brick. The parts that could be seen from the street (east/south) were built with brick as they look nicer. The other sides were stone.

I've never dedicated a post to Supergirl. I talked about Supergirl 1,000,000 on Instagram. I had a post planned for the weird Supergirls era, but I never started it. It featured Natasha Irons (Steel's niece), Cir-El Supergirl, and Girl-13. I don't really know how to explain it.

We sell this book in the store. It's by Lawrence Wright Sr. who worked on the AT&SF for 40 years and as President Eisenhower's attendant when Ike and Mamie would travel the railroad. In the back are short stories he probably couldn't fit anywhere else. As a Lucy and Desi fan, I thought I'd share.

Wright (1933-2021) had a distinguished 39-year career with the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway spanning the years 1956-1995. His published book, "From the Rear of the Train" tells a unique story from his perspective as a Black employee of the railroad. The book chronicles his experiences, achievements and struggles, told in Larry's own colorful, personal way. Sadly, Mr. Wright passed away on April 15, 2021 in his home in Topeka, Kansas."

A short story chapter titled "Desi and Lucy". The story reads "When Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball traveled by rail they had the use of Business Car Santa Fe which was assigned to the President of the Santa Fe. Again this was a very demanding situation and too much for the standard crew (chef and attendant). On these types of trips they would assign an extra attendant, and on such trips, I was assigned as that extra attendant. This was quite an opportunity to be assigned to these type trips. Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz were very much like their TV shows."

People are using this picture to diagnose President Trump with something. Stroke, Bell's Palsy, general confusion because of Alzheimer's or dementia. I don't think there's a medical reason behind this look. Trump just has a dumb face.

Someone on a tour was taking pictures and commented about getting a good one. I mentioned the pictures I take of houses and other things and he asked me what I tend to aim for. I said hinges, doorknobs, and, depending on the staircase, photographing down from the top.
