So, PC might need to change its constitution. But I agree they aren't pushing for a referendum. PC aren't the problem, though. The voters are expressing nationalist ideals, just in three different flavours. Why would centre-left Welsh nationalists want to be run by RW English nationalists?

I dont this actually surprises anyone, but it is pretty clear that the future of the "United" Kingdom isn't great. All the regions are voting for nationalist parties. Even Reform's own statements suggest they shouldn't run a Union of nations. Well done Brexit, the Tories, UKIP. You broke the UK.

Now, I am actually a fan of Qatar Airways as an airline, but their constant, misleading, promises are annoying. They constantly offer deals like this (20% off) to Privilege Club (their Frequent Flyer scheme) members. The important part is "Up To". The best saving I've ever had has been 1.2%.

I get that charities need to cut costs, but in reality, offering roles like this is why they will ultimately pay more: dealing with problems and paying ransoms. I assume this is for the Motability Trust. Pretty sure their CEO earns about £750k because they need to pay that to get someone good....

It has been a while since I've done this, because I very rarely check this email, but it #cybersecurity #jobs salaries/day rates are down. Everything about this job advert has red flags. - 7 years experience (arbritrary number) - £500 per day INSIDE IR35 (low pay) - "Hybrid" meaning 4 days on site.

NGL, I am fascinated by some spam mail. Like does it *ever* work? (Clearly it must, occasionally) And what goes through spammers heads when they send this mountain of "do you want a website" garbage?

With missing punctuation, the phrase "I'll" using a comma for some unknown reason and no capital letter at the start of the first sentence.

It looks like someone has copy/pasted the main body and tried to add their own first sentence, with comical results.

This is interesting. As far as I can tell, the derailment was not a criminal act. For some reason, either The Independent or Google has gone with pictures of a light brown skinned person in handcuffs.

It's pretty wild how bad Google search has become. I am old enough to remember when this was a usable search engine. Now it is just a collection of "poisoned" links and random images. It's also hilarious that ISACA have paid for the CISSP keywords.

I've started reporting everyone who uses the argument "WFH is great because I get to see my kids" to social services.

I also report them to their employer.

If you're working from home whilst your kids are there you're either neglecting your work or you're neglecting your kids.

I am at a loss for words about some of the (ahem) "News" headlines today. Just remember, 34% of the UK population has less than £1k in total savings. 40% cant afford to save on a regular basis, and nearly 60% have less than 3 months of emergency funds. But yeah, "saving too much".

34% of the UK population has under £1k savings.

40% of the population is unable to put any money away month to month.

65% have less than 3 months of emergency money.

People aren't saving too much. They aren't spending because they have no money.

Just a reminder, despite what some people are claiming, political viewpoints have shifted MASSIVELY right-wing. In the 1980s, Thatcher ran a right-wing government. Today, it would be argued as Center-Left. However you describe it, it screwed over the future for the UK, but we seem to want worse.

When you dig in, it gets worse... No account of mine was compromised. This is a data leak (with a few suspects, to be sure), but there is NO password to change. No amount of password managers will save me here. This is just FUD. VPN providers are notorious for this, though, so ... (shrug?)

Additional detail saying this is the leak of a database which contained my email, alternative email and employment data.

There is no account for me to change the password on. There is nothing I can do to minimise this impact other than maybe change job?

The fact an email address is in a data breach is largely irrelevant.

I have a VPN on my laptop, not because I think it's needed to protect my general web activity, but because it has other uses. One thing it sucks at is notifications about "password breaches". Like today, I logged on and got an alert saying their Dark Web monitoring has found something urgent!

Notification from VPN provider saying "your personal data may be exposed" in a dark web data leak and that I should change the password associated with the account urgently.

It makes no reference to *what* account though.

Turns out Amazon cant do maths... (and despite what people often assume, its cheaper to buy 2x 10kg than 1x 20kg)

Another day, another weird job advert. This is for a SOC lead and the bit that gets me is how badly "specialist recruiters" fare when it comes to certifications. CGIH is a typo. If you need the knowledge of a GCFA this is not replaceable by the CISM knowledge. This means you dont need any of it.

CGIH isn't a real cert and is just a typo for the GCIH they mention later on. GCIH and GCFA cover different topics and knowledge. CISM is basically a non-technical security project manager certification which is not even slightly similar to the others.

Either you need the certs for the role or you dont. If you need GCFA, the other two are NOT replacements. If you need CISM, the other two are NOT replacements. If you need GCIH, the other two are NOT replacements.

Cynically, I'd say this is prepping the ground for how they dismantle protests in the future. As each measure goes into place, being able to protest the crazy government will get harder. But, I am sure I am wrong and they just have the best interests of Law and Order in mind.

I love DuckDuckGo, but I cant help but feel it is turning into a Google-lite platform with sponsored ads at the top and AI-generated summaries next. I get that this can be modified with question structure (see second image) but, I JUST WANT RESULTS.

It is always nice when I get an email to a mailbox that only receives phishing emails. It is also interesting that this fake address is the most commonly used one, and has the wrong postcode for Ledbury Road, London... I haven't bothered checking the phone number, I assume its just a boiler room.

The email pretends to be an invoice for an Apple Watch purchase which will be shipped to a fake address (62 Ledbury Road, London D31 2AQ) and gives a phone number to call if there are any issues.

There is a false sense of urgency because the email pretends the watch will be delivered today or tomorrow, so they want you to rush to cancel it before they take the money from your Paypal account.

The phone number probably leads to a boiler room where they will try to socially engineer you into accessing your accounts and then they will try to either get you to give them money, or give them access.

The advisory talked about issues with a "few" of the live response components. Right now, getting it to run AV scans is challenging.

This is a pretty weird email I got today. The answer is clearly "yes" but there isn't even a way to reply to it... The sender address is info=northwestcybersecurity.co.uk@hubspotfree.hs-send.com but replies hit a "domain not found" response... Pretty entertaining really.
