Just stop doing QT. America and Europe have. Give the government more fiscal headroom, we have achieved monetary headroom if we ever need QE again, which we may. There is no link between QT and inflation from energy prices due to Trump’s stupid war. This could give us billions.
1/ Lou Haigh has some sensible wealth tax ideas rather than the unworkable ones proposed by many. It’s sad that if Andy #Burnham is smart he will not give #Farage opportunity to use her fraud conviction over a youthful incident obtaining a new mobile phone. She couldn’t afford a lawyer like the rich
More like it’s time for Martin Lewis to be appointed to make whatever changes to consumer regulations he wants. Do a deal with him Andy.
1/ #Burnham should move cabinet departments out of London. There should be Defence, Home Office, Foreign office remaining in Whitehall for COBRA meetings. SW - Bristol SE - Tonbridge Wells or Canterbury E - Norwich 🏴 - Cardiff 🏴 - Glasgow & Edinburgh NI - Belfast Other major cities to choose from:
There is a cross-political set of pro-growth policies set out off the shelf to be implemented made by many of the major economic think tanks. I think Wes Streeting is a better communicator. He has a cheery vibe, which is everything these days. He could also explain the bond markets to people.
Apple have smashed it out of the park with #iOS27 beta 1. It’s so stable & so many nice little fixes, it’s been 5 days and I’ve just noticed the new video volume slider which just looks better. When #Apple people blog about buggy software and a $4tn company listen, that’s culture as Steve would say.
iOS27 #wwdc VERY snappy for a beta1, despite being indexing at the moment. Also running stable with no major issues. This is what users have been asking for more than AI overkill. I think Apple have found the right balance by luck.
We need investment, not private equity and asset stripping. There should be a delicately regulated anti asset stripping law of some kind. It would help if we were in the new #EU capital market union.
#Labour are doing most of what they promised. Any business would be happy with the progress on their manifesto promises. House building is problematic . Now why can’t they communicate this better? It should be law to sent out fullfact.org reports yearly, along with strong trust in politics reforms.
The gammon brigade at #reform are ugly inside and out. He couldn’t attack her on education. I wouldn’t comment on her looks personally but her signature is nice.
This is a very encouraging market. #Democrats had a 15% chance, now 40% of taking senate control this year. This was looking a struggle by 2028. #Republicans have lost their party. This is after losing a ruby red seat in Texas.
I’m not sure what’s better The New Statesman (Magazine) or The New Statesman (TV).
Here’s a new idea, when it bleeds it doesn’t lead. People have enough bad news pumped into them from every angle. I support Shabana #Mahmood ‘s police reforms, the key is tackling the perception that crime is rising. The latest figures on crime at a record low should be the story of the week.
1/ What do we do about only 9 countries having AAA debt? There is $386tn of global debt (government, business and consumer), this is a record high in real terms) There is also $257tn of shadow banking debt which much of it buys or shorts other debt markets. This is historically unprecedented.
This is reassuring for the British fiscal picture, don’t expect any positive news coverage in the papers or TV though.
There are some beautiful wallets these days for very little money. Available in multiple colours and with as much space for cards. Were great stocking fillers. 🎄🎁💝 www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0C4LSNG9...
For any #Green or #YourParty and #Reform planning to scrap the OBR, we came from this. HIGHER IS BETTER on both charts. I think #Labour have screwed up politically but not in the worst way although the #budget leaks are very damaging to confidence
