Watching the highlights of the Phillies-Nats game and am really confused by the advertising behind home plate. Had to make sure I wasn't accidently watching highlights for 5 years ago. Guess Terra must have paid up front. #LUNAtic

Reminds me of this classic. He got (rightfully but probably too harshly) dragged for this.

People never understands what it means when "AP" follows an author's name. Different news sources can end up with different images for the same article - sometimes it isn't the best image. And the SF Chronicle tweet now shows a different image anyway.

The author block, showing that the article was authored by Dave Skretta, AP Sports Writer, and not a reporter for the SF Chronicle.

Google search results for "Alysa Liu dazzles to win figure skating gold, ending a 24-year Olympic drought for US women." One image shows Alysa Liu and the other shows Ami Nakai.

It's the little details that really shine through. Every prop person in existence could have make a convincing prop of Common Sense but we're left with this garbage. Whole trailer is a mix of uncanny valley and shots that don't stay on one thing for more than a few seconds. Just AI slop.

President Donald Trump’s administration on Monday asked a federal court to throw out a regulation capping credit card late fees at $8, saying it agreed with business and banking groups that alleged in a lawsuit that the rule was illegal.

The filing in federal court in Texas by the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and business groups that brought the case asked U.S. District Judge Mark Pittman in Fort Worth to enter a final order terminating the late fee rule.

Pittman had previously blocked the CFPB from implementing the rule, which was part of Democratic President Joe Biden's broader crackdown on "junk fees,” though Trump’s Republican administration could have defended the rule on appeal.

Getting really tired of the less-than-a-day-old bots that follow 10K people and basically just post/repost the same spam links to shitty t-shirts.

A bsky account that's 3 hours old but has managed to follow 9.8K people. Their top post is a link to a spam/scam t-shirt. One of many accounts that keep popping up.

It's fun comparing him to the other rookie QB on the Browns cause people readily admit that guy has looked bad.

Advanced QB stat numbers for S. Sanders and D. Gabriel (Browns QBs). Stats show Sanders is worse in EPA+CPOE composite, Adj. EPA/play, EPA/play, success rate, comp%, and CPOE. He's only better in air yards.

Every article I read of "crime prevention AI" (or just even general "new crime prevention technology") is just the Simpson's Aurora Borealis meme. "You're making some pretty big claims, can we see any proof?" "No"

In an interview, Elder said Securus’ monitoring efforts have helped disrupt human trafficking and gang activities organized from within prisons, among other crimes, and said its tools are also used to identify prison staff who are bringing in contraband. But the company did not provide MIT Technology Review with any cases specifically uncovered by its new AI models.

I think we can question some of his work ethic when his sports knowledge is questionable and he's caught playing solitaire instead of watching the live sporting event he's attending. Also going to question the work ethic when the output is quantity and not quality.

I have only today learned of this man's existence and already hate him. If you don't teach a kid the word "horse" then how do you later teach them "'sawhorse" or "horsepower" or "horsing around" especially if there are no more pictures?

"Word recognition is a preoccupation," he said. "I don't teach word recognition. I teach people to make sense of language. And learning the words is incidental to that."

He brought up the example of a child who comes to the word "horse" and says "pony" instead. His argument is that a child will still understand the meaning of the story because horse and pony are the same concept.

I pressed him on this. First of all, a pony isn't the same thing as a horse. Second, don't you want to make sure that when a child is learning to read, he understands that /p/ /o/ /n/ /y/ says "pony"? And different letters say "horse"?

He dismissed my question.

"The purpose is not to learn words," he said. "The purpose is to make sense."
