Screenwriter specialising in tense thrillers. Nicholl Finalist with NO GHOSTS TONIGHT. Page finalist with DUST ON DIRT. Available for commission. See my work at:
It's a U.K. thing too. I remember surveys imposed on local government by the Home Office under both Labour and Tories, that treated 'teenagers hanging around' - i.e. merely being in public with their friends - as a form of anti-social behaviour. assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/5a7b30...
Late to the party #scriptsky. It's not so much my favourite monologue as pretty much my first attempt at one. With a bonus attempt at a voice over. From the currently in progress thing about Home Office bloodsuckers.
Still playing with openings for the new thing about vampires in the Home Office (and the impossibility of distinguishing them from the regular employees). #FirstPageFriday #scriptsky
Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that rape is common and rape conviction rates are rare as hens' teeth. Rape apologists are a big old part of the problem. Toss this one in your oubliette, there to make mealy-mouthed excuses for monsters forever more.
Been dusting off DUST ON DIRT, so thought I'd share again. It's a worrying thing when the serial-killing sadistic Border Patrol officers who stalk my heroine feel like they come from a kinder, gentler time. Though there was plenty of cruelty then too. #FirstPageFriday #scriptsky
Tone is anodyne, but I suspect the kinds of horrors Louise Perrett described lurk not far beneath. www.theguardian.com/uk/2010/feb/... Also.... JFC and WTF?
The current opening of the new thing about the gleeful way the folks at the Home Office suck the lifeblood out of you. #TwoPageTuesday #scriptsky. Tentatively called THE MOON HOUSE.
Purveyor of anti-trans nonsense. One for your oubliette, there to gibber witlessly forever more.
Not the first page of FAR AS THE CROW FLIES for #FirstPageFriday, but pretty close to the start. Gearing up for a bit of a polish inbetween cracking on with the new thing . #scriptsky
Keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed for FAR AS THE CROW FLIES. They seem to have liked it and they had good critical notes - one of the 'Oh that's gold! I'm doing that' variety, and another of the 'Dammit, they're right - that bit still doesn't quite fly' type - both so useful. #scriptsky
Today I went into my garden, and discovered that the colony of ants living there have set up an outpost inside the hollow part of the wheelbarrow handles. This does not thrill me. They're bitey little beasts. On the up side... kookaburra.
Because sometimes drop bears are compulsory... Here's a page from FAR AS THE CROW FLIES, my thriller about four American backpackers who take the wrong fruit-picking job in South Australia. #FirstPageFriday #FunPageFriday #Scriptsky
Block block blocky block.... Automated AI account for your moderation lists. #scriptsky
The Long Dark (survival mode) is - I think - among the very best games released this century. It's deadly (so many ways to die in Interloper) and beautiful - Blackfrost will be too. And this makes me want to go buy it again! But I'll settle for saying that if you haven't played it, you should.
DUST ON DIRT's fresh off a rewrite and I've been playing with loglines: A kidnapped astronomy student finds help from a reclusive smuggler in the desert - but when she discovers his dealings with her kidnappers, she must confront her own violent tendencies. #scriptsky #FirstPageFriday
I am *not* registered for some godforsaken AI workshop run by Mike Bassilli for Scriptmatix. And this 'Hey you already registered!' tactic followed by a fake apology/invite shifts my opinion of them from: 'Well I never heard of them...' to 'Ugh. What a pack of shitty douches!' #scriptsky
Interesting... I blocked them via my moderation list, and the block seems to have taken. Did you do it directly or via a list? (Both should work...)
This is account for the new AI nonsense. @attie.ai I'd guess it's training off the firehose, so it'll still access your stuff there. But there's no harm in signalling your distaste by blocking it here. Why not send it to the top of the pops? #scriptsky
Grin. Here's mine. I'd mocked up a Word template for screenwriting. I was trying to go for BtVS meets A Very Peculiar Practice, but set in a dystopian local government (no stretch needed there!) where the demons were considerably less terrifying than HR.
It's about police corruption rather than who's considered expendable, but there's a quote from Terry Pratchett's NIGHT WATCH that feels relevant here.
But even for people who don't like to eat it, the flower is really beautiful - it's worth growing just for that. This looks like the type I try and grow (try being the operative word here) gardenerspath.com/plants/veget...
Late to the party as usual (though not stylishly late, alas). Fragment from the thing I'm writing about bloodsuckers. I'm on hiatus from it at the moment (gig!) - but will be coming back to it later. Drawn from my recollections of the Home Office. #FirstPageFriday #scriptsky
They'll get picked up by block lists pretty quick but just in case - here's one for your oubliette..
This tale of serial-killing Border Patrol officers feels like it's from a gentler time now. But not very gentle. DUST ON DIRT Dumped in the desert by sadistic Border Patrol officers, a determined young woman set a lethal trap for her pursuers – with herself as the bait. #FirstPageFriday #Scriptsky
Well - he certainly is trying to fuck Minnesota so I guess...? (Talk about a url and a half...) people.com/politics/tru...
Pretty sure this will get added to various moderation lists quickly - but make sure you get these pathetic worm-infested turds added to yours. Before you do that -prob worth trawling their follow list and adding them too.
