Constantly fidgeting with The Lament Configuration.
At the movies! Happy Odyssey Day to all those who celebrate!
Up at the cabin. Warming up for tomorrow's epic by rewatching one of the all-timers. My five year old daughter joined me and was immediately enthralled with the imagery.
Let's fucking go!!! The Furious Aka. 火遮眼 (2025 ) - Director: Kenji Tanigaki
Dude did make a total of 65 movies though, so still a way to go, if I had been a completist.
Organizing the collection after directors really made it clear how many films by Kinji Fukasaku I had amassed so far.
Rest in power Sam Neill. Frankly devastated to see him go, but what a legacy he left behind!
Name a movie that flopped at the box office but is actually great #FilmSky
Same!! New Arrow edition looks fantastic. Plus: "Love on Delivery" aka. 破壞之王 (1994) - Director: Lee Lik-Chi Vinegar Syndrome
Taking a break from Junesploitation to support a promising young upstart called Steven Spielberg in theaters!
In honor of Junesploitation I've got four new favoites up @letterboxd.social
It is thriller day at #Junesploitation I am watching Larry Cohen's take on a De Palma/Hitchcock psycho-sexual suspense mind-bender and having a grand old time while crushing on Zoë Lund (RIP!).
Watched Hokum (2026) by Damian McCarthy in theaters last night. All the folk horror stuff was extremely me-coded and it had lots of great atmosphere and attention to detail. Looking forward to see it again. Always up for seeing Adam Scott playing a dick too, as he is such an expert at it.
I listened to the @fthismovie.bsky.social episode on Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977) and it made me think about the films of John Boorman. This four movie run needs to be studied!
Let me add to the Backrooms hype! Great sound design and assured aesthetic choices, transcending creepypasta and entering the realm of actual cinema. Bring on the new wave of liminal horror I say!
I watched Curry Barker's Obsession at the cinema and it was a real thrill ride! Great use of shadow and lighting. Don't wait until streaming with this one.
Is there a more cursed or cynical commercial film genre than the musical bio-pic? All these films feel fundamentally broken or straight up evil, soulless endeavors designed to steal your money/whitewash, dumb down & needlessly polish complex artists in some misguided attempt to ensure their legacy.
Not sure my TV-set or my brain can take the immense amount of cocaine-fueled energy emanating from rewatching both of these films in one day. My month took a hard turn intoTony Scott and/or Denzel Washington movies, courtroom dramas and I can feel a Renny Harlin/Shane Black/Spike Lee craving too!
Looking at all these movies, what actor do you think is in all of them?
Managed to miss this one in 1995. Any fans of Iain Softley's "Hackers" out there?
