I did it! I have successfully grown corn. (Not shown: the layers of wire, netting, and sticks required to protect it from marauding squirrels.) We’ll try these tonight and how many more we can successfully harvest from my tiny field of corn dreams. #frontyardfarmer

My favorite summer dinner. Grilled chicken breast with garlic & rosemary, fresh fig salsita, Spanish broad beans with garlic, sliced tomato. Grew all plants except slivered almonds, Rosé from Maryhill Winery. Amazing.

Patience, dear friend. My 🌽 just transformed in the last day or so. Yours will too. (My corn is not NEARLY as big as it looks in this image.)

My grandkid at a rally this summer. They also told me recently about an idea to install laser beams around their school after an ICE lockdown because “I know they are not allowed inside but what if they try anyway.” What as a nation are we doing to our children?

Some of you may know that I grow food each year and give it away. Some years I’ve worked with local groups but last year I was on my own and put my veggies on ledge @ the sidewalk with a sign saying, “take what you can use.” It was always taken, which pleased me. ⬇️

Heard that there might be orcas heading our way so I headed to the waterfront just in case. No whales but got in a beautiful walk; calm water, fog, and the sun breaking through on a Tuesday in January. No regrets!

Sweet Foxy, the scaredest scaredy-cat in town, lives in our attic and rarely comes down because she’s afraid of the other totally benign cats in the house. Just spent way too much time sitting with her, but dang, she is cute! #catsofbluesky
