My mom volunteers at a thrift store and she scored me this old Hondo 12 string for $10. Excited to clean it up
Beautiful new tapes from Island House. Osmium House and @6organs.bsky.social
Post Takoma Records, co-founder ED Denson started Kicking Mule Records and continued to release a bunch of great trad-ish folk music. This LP is a great example. Used Kicking Mule Records LPs are usually cheap and wonderful
Came up on this issue of the folk revival magazine SING OUT! that contains a somewhat condescending open letter from the editor to the freshly electrified Bob Dylan
After a tumultuous journey, I traded one amp for another amp. A small Acoustic tower
This was in a free box at the record store, felt like a good find
I’m enamored w/ the latest @jonrcamp.bsky.social record - it hits a real sweet spot for instrumental folk/rock. @centripetalforce.bsky.social is on a streak right now!
backpacking pics reminding me how rad it is to just be out there
A couple pictures I took while climbing Mt. Adams. I went with some very experienced technical mountaineers and they specifically chose a difficult route. I declined to go all the way because I felt like a liability on the rope chain so I spent a chill day at our basecamp at about 10k feet
This record, reissued from the dawn of the Jagjaguwar label, absolutely rips. Neil, the drummer here, played some drums on my MF ONE LP
So good, every player is poppin’ off, I love this rhythm section!
Paulina Peak (8,000 ft) and Newberry Caldera, Deschutes National Forest
Over ten years ago Bre and I made this kid’s comic called Woodsy Way. @portalithics.bsky.social helped us print it out. We forgot to show it to Alma til last night!
My first “vinyl” - a lathe cut 45rpm single featuring two lofi pop tunes. Austin Potter helped me put it out in an edition of 10. I might make it available on streaming, why not?
Vibing to the new @johnnybellsounds.bsky.social album on @centripetalforce.bsky.social records. Some of the chillest solo banjo music I’ve ever heard. It has New Age vibes which I feel is novel for the instrument. Beautiful record!
I’ve been thinking about how if you’re listening to The Dead, Dylan, The Band, The Byrds, etc - you are listening to Harry Smith. His impact is such that he is a spiritual member of these bands
It’s a little rough down there but I’m so grateful to have a basement to make music in
The drunken politician leaps Upon the streets where mothers weep And the saviors who are fast asleep They wait for you And I wait for them to interrupt Me drinkin' from my broken cup And ask me to open up the gate for you
